HVAC Maintenance Technicians are responsible for performing a variety of routine maintenance and repairs on residential and light commercial HVAC equipment while upholding the core values and vision of Zimmerman Plumbing & Heating, Inc. (ZPH).

of Duties:

Customer-based activities involved in this position require an individual who is professional, independent, adaptable, dependable, and who possesses initiative. The ability to effectively communicate with all customers and fellow staff. Representative duties include:

  • Perform routine service and maintenance on residential and commercial HVAC equipment to ZPH standards
  • Assess client concerns regarding home comfort and provide necessary recommendations
  • Make necessary on-site repairs or scheduling repairs to be completed with client approval
  • Keep detailed invoicing of work performed during each scheduled appointment, including all necessary notes, payments and signatures
  • All on-site financial transactions for completed work by clients and the handling of cash, checks, and credit cards after work is completed
  • Provide timely and professional communication through email, text, and phone to fellow staff and clients
  • Utilize and understand company dispatching software
  • Maintain a professional appearance with company provided uniforms and recommended attire during all working hours
  • Perform related duties as assigned by manager, supervisor, or President
  • Physical demands including driving, getting in and out of a work truck, lifting tools and equipment in and out of a truck, climbing ladders and stairs, bending and stretching to gain access to equipment located in crawlspaces, attics, rooftops, and other locations
  • Perform job duties without direct oversight or assistance
  • Maintain regular, daily communication with office personnel for status updates and job scheduling
  • Provide thorough and prompt follow-up communication to clients and coworkers
  • Maintain a clean and organized company vehicle; washed weekly and waxed twice a year
  • Provide own personal tools as set forth by company tool policy
  • Working hours typically between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with the understanding that hours will fluctuate. Some Saturday availability. Schedules to be determined at the time of hire.
  • Provide clients with absolute discretion and privacy regarding them, their family, home and anything therein before, during, and after work is complete. Keeping all relationships consistent, positive and only as working relationships
  • Adherence to ZPH handbook, policies and procedures
Job Qualifications:

  • High school graduate – preferably with customer service experience. HVAC experience and mechanically inclined ideal
  • Good verbal and written skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers' instructions and to clearly communicate with clients and coworkers
  • Physical ability to perform all duties noted above and able to work safely in any weather condition found in Central Pennsylvania
  • Interest and initiative in maintaining and advancing his/her skills through a combination of self-study, company training, manufacturers' workshops, and other professional development activities. Maintain current certifications, licenses, and similar.
  • Current Pennsylvania driver’s license and the ability to operate all fleet vehicles within 30 days of initial employment. Incumbent must be insurable by current ZPH insurance carrier.
  • Ability to work under pressures of time, a non-standard schedule, weather, customer needs, and backlog constraints
  • Must pass initial background check, physical, and drug test prior to hire as well as on-going random drug tests.
  • Wages based on experience.


Compensation: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
