Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To perform maintenance duties as assigned by maintenance supervisor.

PAY GRADE: N246 - Grade 10 - Salary Range: $42,152.00 to $68,560.00. Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified experience.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 246 Days (12 Months)

REPORTS TO: Mechanical Technical Supervisor

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: Educational Level: High school graduate or GED preferred

Certification/License Required: Certification in HFCF Reclaiming

5 years experience in supervision

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Lift 70 pounds individually and move objects up to 140 pounds with assistance.
  2. Be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl, and have depth perception.
  3. Be able to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather including cold, hot, wet, and high humidity.

Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

PROFICIENT SKILLS:

  • Ability to troubleshoot school control circuits and air conditioning and heating systems.
  • Ability to repair all HVAC equipment.
  • Knowledge to use HVAC test equipment.
  • General knowledge of the energy management systems.
  • Ability to read schematic diagrams.
  • Operate HFCF Reclaiming equipment in accordance with EPD and EPA guidelines.
  • Perform all preventive maintenance operations on controls on heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to supervise other employees.
  • Ability to assign work to other employees.
  • Ability to lead by example as well as by directive.
  • Maintain good relationship with all school personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Maintain valid Georgia driver's license.
  2. Maintain clean and organized work vehicle.
  3. Maintain all equipment and tools.
  4. Responsible for ensuring vehicle is serviced and all safety features are working properly.
  5. Safely load, unload and secure all equipment, tools and other items to be transported, either by vehicle or trailer.
  6. Schedule required work.
  7. Responsible for procuring and returning material from /to stock.
  8. Requisition needed materials not stocked.
  9. Report immediately safety hazards which affect the welfare of students and system employees.
  10. Maintain records of all work requests.
  11. Maintain safe work site.
  12. Remain updated on code changes as they relate to HFCF Reclaiming.
  13. Responsible for monthly school inspections.
  14. Maintains a budget for appropriate area.
  15. Remain on call during after hours, weekends and holidays.
  16. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
