HVAC Controls Technician → Instructor

For experienced HVAC controls and building automation technicians, this role is about passing down the knowledge that keeps buildings running efficiently. You’ll work directly with students and systems, turning real experience into real capability.

What You’ll Do:

  • Teach hands on troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of HVAC controls and building automation systems (BAS)
  • Demonstrate real world diagnostics, safe work practices, and industry standards
  • Train students on systems including:
    • DDC controls and BAS platforms
    • Sensors, actuators, and control wiring
    • HVAC system integration (air handlers, chillers, VFDs, VAV's)
    • Basic networking and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus)
  • Coach students through live tasks and skill development
  • Track progress and provide clear, practical feedback
  • Help keep labs and equipment safe, organized, and industry ready
  • This is hands on leadership—not classroom theory

What We’re Looking For:

  • Professional experience with HVAC controls / building automation systems
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and controls integration
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and schematics experience
  • Comprehensive technical computer skills
  • Willingness to mentor and set a strong example
  • No teaching background required experience and credibility matter most.

Location & Travel:

  • Monday – Friday
  • Indianapolis primary location
  • Minimal travel

Requirements

  • Experience with DDC controls, BAS, or HVAC controls systems

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Experience with Johnson Controls Metasys or similar platforms
  • BAS certifications or manufacturer training
  • Experience commissioning or programming controls systems
