We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Operator to join the delivery team of a major hyperscale data centre project in Melbournes west. This is a critical site-based role responsible for the safe operation, switching, and permitting of HV electrical systems during the construction and commissioning phases.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a high-profile technical infrastructure build, interfacing directly with electrical engineers, commissioning agents, and SCADA integration teams.
Operate, monitor, and maintain HV systems (11kV66kV) in line with strict safety and compliance protocols
Execute and document HV switching programs in coordination with engineering and commissioning teams
Implement LOTO and isolation procedures, including issuance of Electrical Permits to Work (PTWs)
Monitor, test, and configure SCADA systems to support integration and system readiness
Collaborate with contractors, utility providers, and internal stakeholders during energisation windows
Maintain accurate permit records, risk assessments, and switching logs
Support commissioning milestones including readiness reviews, walkdowns, and energisation briefings
Assist in enforcing site-based electrical safety procedures in line with statutory requirements and project standards
Certified HV Switching Operator (relevant state-authorised training/accreditation required)
Electrical trade qualification or engineering background preferred
Minimum 3 years experience working on HV infrastructure projects (data centres, substations, utilities, or critical facilities)
Experience with SCADA, electrical isolations, and PTW systems essential
Familiarity with relevant electrical safety codes (e.g. AS/NZS 3000, Victorian Blue Book, IEC standards)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in a high-risk environment
Able to work extended hours or shift work during key energisation periods
