This opportunity for an HV Design Engineer is with an engineering consultancy, specializing in electrical power systems. Their team is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions and exceptional service to their clients. They are seeking a highly skilled individual with high voltage design experience to join their team on a remote basis.
As an HV Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing 11kV new connections for various projects. Your role will involve analyzing technical specifications, developing design plans, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate should have previous experience in high voltage design and possess strong analytical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze technical specifications and project requirements for 11kV new connections.
- Develop detailed design plans using specialized software and tools.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of projects.
- Perform calculations related to load flow analysis, fault levels assessment, protection coordination, etc.
- Create technical drawings such as single-line diagrams and wiring diagrams.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, codes of practice, and safety regulations.
- Support the implementation phase by providing guidance to installation teams when required.
- Conduct regular site visits or virtual meetings with clients as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in high voltage (HV) design is essential.
- Proficiency in using software tools such as AutoCAD or similar CAD programs for electrical design work.
- Strong knowledge of industry standards/regulations.
- Familiarity with protection relays/schemes coordination within an electrical network is preferred
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
