Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (HARP) is a nonprofit animal welfare organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals and the people who love them. With multiple facilities and a broad reach across the Pittsburgh community, HARP provides comprehensive veterinary care, shelter services, and lifesaving support to thousands of animals each year.

HARP is seeking a Director of Veterinary Medicine to join our collaborative, mission-driven leadership team. This role is ideal for an experienced veterinarian who is ready to step into a strategic leadership position. Someone who is passionate about shelter medicine, enjoys developing teams, and wants to make a lasting impact at both the clinical and organizational level.

You will play a key role in shaping medical protocols, supporting and mentoring veterinary staff, and partnering closely with executive leadership to advance HARP’s mission.

Our Facilities & Team:

• Multi-facility organization including two low-cost, high-quality veterinary medical centers, a wildlife center, and a mobile clinic serving the Pittsburgh community
  • Approximately 95% canine and feline caseload within shelter operations
• Collaboration with senior leadership, including medical operations and executive teams
• Dedicated veterinary technicians, support staff, and volunteers

• Opportunity to influence both day-to-day clinical care and long-term organizational strategy

Compensation & Benefits:

• Base salary potential exceeding $200,000
