Position: Human Trafficking Hotline Advocate

Department: Philadelphia Social Service Ministries - New Day

Availability of Position: Immediate (1 position available)

Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours a week, Flexible schedule either Tuesday-Saturday or Thursday-Sunday 12pm-8pm some additional nights or weekends required

Reporting Relationship: Assistant Program Director

Salary/Grade: $50,000.00 per year; 10 Exempt

Responsibilities

The Human Trafficking Hotline Advocate will work within the New Day to Stop Trafficking Program to triage and screen callers to the Human Trafficking Hotline. The hotline advocate will provide trauma-informed, rapid response over the phone and as needed in person to newly identified victims of human trafficking, ensuring that all victims are provided with timely referrals and connection to resources for immediate stabilization. The hotline advocate will provide short-term triage, assessment, and service coordination for stabilization, and then refer victims to supportive services for long-term follow up care. The hotline advocate will be required to travel throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding counties of Delaware, Montgomery, and Bucks counties as needed to meet with victims of human trafficking in need of in person services. This position is part of The Salvation Army and The City of Philadelphia’s coordinated response to human trafficking that occurs during national and international events coming to Philadelphia in FY 26 and will require flexible scheduling and increased availability during peak times, particularly during FIFA World Cup events. This a grant-funded position with continuity dependent on future grant funding.

of Position: The Human Trafficking Hotline Advocate will participate in managing a 24/7 hotline for response to survivors of human trafficking, managing a direct service case load of up to 5-8 hotline clients at any given time. The advocate will conduct initial screening and triage of newly identified survivors of human trafficking over the phone and as needed in the community. The advocate will also provide technical assistance for service providers, business, and city departments who call the human trafficking hotline. The hotline advocate will submit timely case notes and maintain up to date data entry on all hotline services provided and ensure client confidentiality in all forms of communication.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • BSW or related degree required. MSW Preferred
  • 2 years of experience working in human trafficking victim services or a related field (ex. domestic violence, sexual assault, immigrant rights, workers’ rights) in a role that involves direct service provision
  • Must possess two years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with trauma informed care preferably a working knowledge of Sanctuary Model for Trauma informed services.
  • Must understand the issue of Domestic and Foreign Human Trafficking and prostitution.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel from site to site as may be needed in the performance of duties.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
