Job Description

In this role, you will guide statewide professional development efforts that support early care and education, early intervention, and home visiting professionals. Your work blends project management, policy interpretation, data-driven decision-making, and cross-agency collaboration. You will balance strategic planning with day to day oversight to ensure professionals have access to high-quality, evidence-based, and compliant training that strengthens their skills and improve outcomes for Ohio’s children and families. What You Can Expect in This Role Strategic Project Planning: You will design project plans that outline objectives, timelines, milestones, and resource needs for large-scale professional development and guidance initiatives. Data-Informed Decision-Making: A key part of your work involves analyzing performance data and evaluation results to identify skill gaps within the workforce and determine which supports or trainings will create meaningful improvement. Coordination of Statewide Training & Supports: You’ll organize and oversee the delivery of training and professional development for early care and education, early intervention, and home visiting professionals. This includes working closely with training vendors, internal partners, and external partners. Contract Management: You will follow established processes to draft, review, approve, or deny training contracts, ensuring that all contracted activities meet standards and align with program goals. Policy Interpretation & Compliance: You’ll regularly analyze pending and enacted federal and state laws to ensure that statewide practices remain compliant. You’ll help shape policies, procedures, and goals that guide Ohio’s systems for professional development. Quality Assurance & Branding: You’ll ensure that all project-related materials and activities meet quality expectations and follow branding guidelines. Reporting & Communication: You will evaluate project outcomes, prepare reports for agency leadership and stakeholders, and communicate progress, barriers, and recommendations for future actions. Process Improvement: You’ll identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the professional development systems and implement innovations where needed. Collaboration & Representation: You will work closely with internal departments, external partners, community organizations, and government agencies. You may represent the Bureau at statewide conferences and meetings, respond to inquiries from officials or organizations, and occasionally develop position papers or draft speeches. Staff Supervision: You’ll supervise assigned staff by setting goals, providing feedback, conducting performance evaluations, overseeing workloads, approving leave, and supporting professional growth.Pay InformationUnless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be step 1 of the salary range associated with this position. New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Based on collective bargaining and legislative activity, there may be cost of living increases awarded annually. Additional longevity supplements begin after 5 years. 72 mos. exp. in researching, developing, or implementing policies related to social services, health services, public policy, or comparable field; 12 mos. exp. in delivery of human services in a governmental, community, or private human support services agency.-Or completion of undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science; 48 mos. exp. in researching, developing, or implementing policies related to social services, health services, public policy, or comparable field; 12 mos. exp. in delivery of human services in a governmental, community, or private human support services agency.-Or completion of graduate core program in social or behavioral science; 36 mos. exp. in researching, developing, or implementing policies related to social services, health services, public policy, or comparable field; 12 mos. exp. in delivery of human services in a governmental, community, or private human support services agency.-Or 12 mos. exp. as Human Services Developer, 69463.-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.Job Skills: Human Services
