Office of Family Assistance
The Office of Family Assistance (OFA) provides policy, operational, technical assistance and training support for safety net programs that assist low-income Ohioans. This includes: Cash assistance programs funded by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Block Grant, including Ohio Works First (OWF) and the Prevention Retention and Contingency (PRC) programs; Food assistance programs including, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Program, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP); Program Integrity; and Adult Protective Services. What You Will Do
In this position, you will be responsible for researching, analyzing, formulating/revising, and implementing policies, procedures, and/or administrative rules for assigned human services program area(s) based upon federal acts where guidelines are non-specific. Duties include:
Establish state's minimum standard of practice (e.g., TANF; OWF; PRC; SNAP; Refugee Cash Assistance).
Develop and present training to agency staff and to County Departments of Job and Family Services (CDJFS) staff on new initiatives and/or policy.
Plan, organize and participate in training conferences and workshops.
Provide consultation and technical assistance in program development, evaluation, and revisions to CDJFS directors, administrators, and other staff.
Monitor and evaluate assigned CDJFS operations to determine compliance with state and federal regulations, state hearing decisions, Quality Assurance (QA) findings, and reporting requirements.
Coordinate with other agency departments and employees to ensure uniformity in policy responses and technical assistance.
Schedule: Full time.
Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Location: This position will be headquartered at the James A. Rhodes State Officer Tower - 30 E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215.
Travel: Travel required, as needed. Must provide own transportation or, in order to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid driver license.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohio’s SEIU/1199 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 13. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $36.01 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
