Responsible for working with new hires/rehires to ensure accurate completion of new hire paperwork packet including fingerprinting, background checks and new employee orientation packet, and serves as the primary point of contact at the Human Resources Reception by responding to telephone and walk-in inquiries. The HR Technician works closely with the HR team to ensure employee files are maintained, serves as a back up to the HR Specialist, and performs other duties as assigned to support the functions of the department.

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized courses in computer software
  • Notary Public preferred
  • Criminal background check required for hire

Experience:

  • Two years of experience in a general office setting


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Oral and written communication skills; English language skills
  • Bilingual oral and written communication skills preferred
  • Interpersonal relations skills; Customer service and public relations skills; Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations
  • Personal computer and keyboarding skills; Advanced computer hardware and software skills; Operating knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office and Google
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with general office equipment, including telephones, copier, fax machine, etc.;
  • Knowledge of operating, installing, supporting and maintaining PCs and associated application software preferred at hire.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for working with all new hires/rehires to ensure accurate completion of new hire paperwork packet and new employee orientation packet in collaboration with the Employment Specialist.
  • Setup new employees BusinessPLUS Employee Online access and notify employee of initial login and password. Serves as backup for Employee Online and Applicant Online questions.
  • Maintain open positions by verifying and updating requisitions entered in BusinessPLUS and coordinating with schools and departments when positions should be closed.
  • Provide primary support for the Human Resources Department by responding to telephone and walk-in inquiries.
  • Maintain and update employee files.
  • Maintain accurate logs of staff and contractors that need to take district provided trainings.


This is a year round, full time position 253 work days
