HR Specialist (Recruiting focus)

This position will be focused on recruiting efforts with hiring managers and implementing an ATS system.

Salary: Framework C, Step 50. Range $79,526.16 - $91,344.48

HTH seeks an HR Specialist, to serve as part of the Central Management Team to support and manage onboarding, benefits, and leave of absences for the organization. This position is in-person and on campus.

JOB SUMMARY

As a member of the Central team, the HR Specialist will have the rewarding responsibility of onboarding new staff, coordinating and managing employee leave of absences, workers’ compensation injury reporting and management, evaluation of degree, transcripts, and employment verifications, manage and advise on job postings, and uphold compliance in a fast-paced, goal- oriented environment. This role will partner with hiring managers and multiple departments to maximize the effectiveness of the hiring process, and develop and execute comprehensive and effective onboarding processes to ensure an impactful candidate/new hire experience.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Act as a main point of contact for new hires, current and previous employees to assist with various requests.
• Provide a first-class genuine candidate experience that optimizes for long-term relationships with candidates and new hires.
• Ensure a consistent and exceptional onboarding experience/successful transition for assigned new hires joining the organization.
• Collect and evaluate all necessary documents required to complete the onboarding process.
• Interact directly with new hires at multiple points throughout the onboarding process.
• Verify applicable requirements and certifications including employment eligibility requirements (I9 documents), TB Tests, Transcripts, Verifications of Experience, Credentials, etc.
• Oversee the applicant tracking process, including troubleshooting and resolving applicant inquiries.
• Determine and verify salary placement for offer letters.
• Act as a continued resource for all new hire employees and existing employees.
• May evaluate prospective certificated employees' credential licensure (e.g. transcripts, credentials, etc.) to assess eligibility and placement in coordination with Credential Operations.
• Participate in the determination of the annual renewal of health benefits.
• Administer annually, the health benefits open enrollment, providing necessary resources and information for employees.
• Assist and counsel employees with their health benefits selection during the onboarding process or during open enrollment, by providing a detailed overview of their options.
• Assist and advise employees throughout the year with health benefit qualifying events.
• Work closely with management and employees to resolve discrepancies or issues.
• Perform related duties as assigned

The ideal candidate would possess the following qualities:

• 2 years of experience in Human Resources
• School payroll experience a plus
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with spreadsheets
• Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
• Keen attention to detail including a high level of precision and data integrity awareness
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to work in a fast pace environment
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Results-driven, sense of urgency, and high standard of professionalism
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent Customer Service skills
• Basic knowledge of benefit administration
• Basic knowledge of leave of absences in California
• Understanding of CA labor laws as it relates to exempt and non-exempt employees and

ability to update onboarding documents as rules and regulations change

• Self-Motivated
• Bilingual a plus

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Associate Degree or High school diploma with three years of related

experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an

equivalent rate for years of experience.
