Job Description

HR Strategy & Business Partnership

  • Partner with the General Manager and Heads of Department on all people-related matters.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the hotel's business objectives.
  • Provide HR advice and support to management on employee-related matters.
  • Develop programmes and initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive and high-performing work environment.
  • Support the hotel leadership team in building a strong people and service culture.
  • Monitor manpower productivity, staffing levels and organisational requirements.

Talent Acquisition & Manpower Planning

  • Work with department heads to identify manpower requirements.
  • Manage recruitment and selection processes in line with approved manning and budgets.
  • Prepare and maintain manpower plans and recruitment trackers.
  • Ensure timely hiring of quality candidates across all departments.
  • Coordinate interviews, selection, reference checks and background verification.
  • Ensure appropriate offer, joining and onboarding documentation.
  • Maintain effective relationships with recruitment agencies, institutions and other talent sources.
  • Support internal mobility, transfers and career opportunities within IHG.

New Joiner Experience & Onboarding

  • Welcome and orient new colleagues to the hotel and IHG.
  • Conduct HR induction and ensure completion of joining formalities.
  • Ensure colleagues understand hotel policies, procedures, benefits, code of conduct and IHG values.
  • Coordinate departmental induction and job-specific orientation.
  • Ensure all employee documentation is complete and maintained accurately.
  • Create a positive first-day and onboarding experience for new colleagues.

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Develop creative initiatives to engage, inspire and motivate colleagues.
  • Plan and execute employee engagement activities, celebrations and recognition programmes.
  • Support and administer the annual Team Member Satisfaction Survey and develop action plans based on results.
  • Monitor employee feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct regular employee interactions and engagement forums.
  • Promote a culture of trust, respect, inclusion and collaboration.
  • Recognise and celebrate employee achievements and contributions.
  • Support IHG wellbeing initiatives and promote colleague wellbeing.

Employee Relations

  • Act as a trusted point of contact for colleagues on HR-related matters.
  • Address employee concerns, grievances and workplace issues professionally and confidentially.
  • Support management in disciplinary and performance-related matters.
  • Ensure fair, consistent and transparent application of HR policies.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyse employee feedback and reasons for separation.
  • Monitor employee turnover and develop retention initiatives.
  • Maintain positive employee relations and a healthy workplace environment.

Learning & Development

  • Identify training needs in consultation with department heads.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual training calendar.
  • Coordinate induction, mandatory and operational training programmes.
  • Promote IHG learning platforms and development programmes.
  • Support leadership development and succession planning.
  • Encourage cross-training and career development opportunities.
  • Monitor training completion and maintain appropriate records.
  • Support the development of colleagues through the IHG Room to Grow philosophy.

Performance Management

  • Coordinate the hotel's performance management process.
  • Ensure timely completion of probation reviews and performance evaluations.
  • Support managers in setting clear performance objectives.
  • Coach managers on performance improvement and employee development.
  • Monitor Performance Improvement Plans where required.
  • Support succession planning and talent identification.
  • Encourage continuous feedback and development conversations.

Payroll & HR Administration

  • Coordinate monthly payroll activities with Finance and ensure accurate employee data.
  • Maintain employee records, attendance, leave and payroll inputs.
  • Ensure timely processing of salary, deductions and statutory contributions.
  • Monitor attendance, overtime, leave and payroll-related discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate employee files and HR documentation.
  • Ensure HR reports and dashboards are updated and submitted on time.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and payroll information.

Local Law & Statutory Compliance

Ensure compliance with all applicable Central Government, Goa State and local employment laws and statutory requirements, including, as applicable:

  • Applicable wage and employment requirements
  • Provident Fund (PF)
  • Employees' State Insurance (ESI)
  • Professional Tax, where applicable
  • Labour Welfare Fund, where applicable
  • Gratuity requirements
  • Bonus requirements
  • Maternity Benefit requirements
  • POSH / Prevention of Sexual Harassment requirements
  • Shops & Establishments / applicable establishment regulations
  • Working hours, weekly off and leave requirements
  • Contract Labour requirements
  • Child labour and employment eligibility requirements
  • Applicable Goa-specific labour and employment regulations

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintain statutory registers, records and returns as required.
  • Ensure timely payment and filing of statutory dues and returns.
  • Coordinate labour inspections and statutory audits.
  • Work with external consultants and authorities when required.
  • Ensure employment documentation and HR practices remain compliant with applicable laws.
  • Keep management updated on significant changes in employment legislation.

HR Reporting & Analytics

Prepare and analyse regular HR reports including:

  • Headcount and manpower status, Recruitment status, Attrition, Absenteeism, Payroll cost, Overtime, Employee turnover, Training hours and completion, Employee engagement, Diversity and inclusion, Leave utilisation, Pending HR actions
  • Provide meaningful HR insights and recommendations to the General Manager and leadership team.

Employee Welfare & Wellbeing

  • Promote colleague wellbeing and work-life balance.
  • Coordinate employee welfare initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate employee facilities and welfare provisions are available.
  • Support IHG wellbeing programmes.
  • Monitor employee accommodation, meals, uniforms, lockers and other welfare facilities, where applicable.
  • Organise health, safety and wellbeing awareness initiatives.
  • Encourage a workplace culture where colleagues feel supported and valued.

  • Promote an inclusive workplace where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

  • Conduct regular HR audits and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure employee files and statutory documentation are complete and accurate.
  • Identify HR risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Support IHG, internal, statutory and external audits.
  • Track and close audit observations within agreed timelines.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are maintained for employee data and confidential information.

HR Responsibilities

For the opening of Holiday Inn Express Goa Morjim, the HR Manager will additionally be responsible for:

  • Developing the manpower plan.
  • Coordinating recruitment against approved manning.
  • Preparing the recruitment and joining calendar.
  • Supporting sourcing and selection of the opening team.
  • Coordinating joining documentation and background verification.
  • Developing the opening HR action plan.
  • Establishing HR policies, SOPs and administrative processes.
  • Coordinating uniforms, ID cards, lockers and employee facilities.
  • Setting up employee files and HR records.
  • Coordinating payroll and HR system setup.
  • Planning hotel opening induction and training.
  • Coordinating culture-building and team engagement activities.
  • Ensuring statutory registrations and HR compliance requirements are completed before opening.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor's degree / higher education qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hotel Management or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources / MBA HR will be an advantage.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 4–6 years of relevant Human Resources experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory HR role is preferred.
  • Experience in a branded hotel environment will be an advantage.
  • Pre-opening hotel experience will be highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of hotel HR operations, employee relations, recruitment and statutory compliance.

Language

  • Fluent spoken and written English is required.
  • Hindi and knowledge of local language(s) will be an advantage.
