About General Beverages Sales Co.

General Beverage Sales Co. (GB) is a business-to-business wholesale distributor of wine, distilled spirits, beer, soda, bottled water and non-alcoholic beverages. Established in 1933, GB has been family-owned ever since. We currently operate in all of Wisconsin’s 72 counties as consultants to over 11,000 licensed retail business customers helping them to profitably select, promote, merchandise, and sell consumer products in the beverage category. We proudly employ 900 employees across the State of Wisconsin. Our mission is to be the trusted distributor partner of our suppliers and customers in order to advance our collective beverage business and support the growth of our family of employees.

The Human Resources manager provides support in all areas of human resources, including employee compensation, recruitment, personnel policies, and regulatory compliance for the company in which they are employed. In addition, they work as part of a multi-company HR team to plan, coordinate and enhance HR functions.

· Minimum of three years of related work experience

· Knowledge of benefit practices and ability to administer the company’s benefit programs

· General knowledge of Human Resources and payroll practices

· Knowledge to formulate employment goals and objectives consistent within the company, as well as federal, state, and local guidelines

· Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

· Must possess a valid driver’s license

· Must pass a pre-employment drug screen

Requirements

· Responsible for payroll activity including entering hours and earnings, employee master file maintenance, and maintaining benefit deductions. Check, balance, and process payroll and distribute checks to other locations. Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

· Communicate and work with other HR staff members to ensure the standardization and consistency of corporate policies and procedures.

· Partner with management to assist in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters assuring fair and consistent handling of employees in accordance with state and federal employment laws.

· Advise General Manager on organizational policy, benefits, and procedural matters to assure correct processes are followed, guaranteeing fair and consistent handling of employees in order to reduce company liability and maintain employee morale.

· Prepare and maintain records for controlling personnel transactions, reporting personnel data, and maintaining personnel records to comply with government regulations. Provide documentation, records, and guidance to management to help make informed decisions.

· Administer employee benefit programs including retirement, medical, life, dental, long-term disability, workers’ compensation, flexible spending, and unemployment compensation. Assure the benefit programs comply with corporate policies and procedures.

· Help coordinate and manage internal recruitment efforts. Assure the interview and selection process is handled in accordance with GB policies, and federal and state hiring laws and regulations.

· Participate in professional development activities to keep current with employment law changes and requirements.

· Address employee concerns, conflicts, and disciplinary issues in compliance with company policies, collective bargaining agreements (where applicable) and applicable employment laws.

· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
