Job Description

Overall Goal of Position:
Lead & direct Human Resources functions in support of the day-to-day operations and activities of the assigned Plant.

The Human Resources Manager will lead a broad range of HR functions to include but not limited to employee engagement, training and development, recruiting and staffing, onboarding and new hire orientation, labor relations, and strategic HR initiatives. A strong emphasis will be on the recruitment, training, and development of team members for all positions for the facility. The Human Resources Manager will ensure compliance with Federal and State employment laws and regulations and consistently administer company policies and procedures. The Human Resources Manager will work closely with all levels of team members within the plant and must demonstrate a high level of trust, confidentiality, good judgment, and collaboration. This position will have one direct report and reports to the Director, Human Resources.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Partners with the plant leadership team and team members to communicate and provide guidance on Company policies, procedures, programs and applicable federal and state employment regulations.
• Serve as the primary contact for the Plant’s union representation; Investigate and handle all grievance appropriately in a timely manner;
• Leads all aspects and execution of the Sauer “Pay for Skills” job-leveling and development program for hourly employees.
• Coaches and guides plant management team in addressing and resolving employee issues.
• Manages internal and external HR related matters.
• Sources, recruits and hires candidates for open plant positions.
• Facilitates all aspects of the onboarding process & new employee orientation.
• Assists with the review, audit and maintenance of records in the HRIS system, and resolves discrepancies as needed to ensure accurate records.
• Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.
• Processes and tracks leave requests, including Federal, State, and Company leaves.
• Ensure timekeeping practices and policies are followed.
• Supports safety training initiatives and programs.
• Direct and develop the Plant HR Coordinator.
• Responds to human resources related inquiries.
• Other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For:
• Demonstrated proficiency in the following areas:
◦ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
◦ Ability to work and thrive under time constraints and juggle/prioritize responsibilities independently
◦ Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality
◦ Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
◦ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
◦ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
◦ Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible
• Education & Experience:
◦ Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field required
◦ Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in the HR field with a minimum of three years of HR management or HR business partner experience required
◦ Minimum five (5) years of HR experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment required
◦ Minimum five (5) years of HR experience supporting an hourly workforce on a shift-based schedule
◦ Minimum three (3) years of experience in a unionized environment required
◦ Experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements and maintaining positive relationships with a Union required
◦ Experience with online HR suites such as ADP, Workday, and/or ICIMS required; Experience with Ceridian Dayforce preferred
◦ Ability to travel approximately 5% required
◦ Ability to work flexible hours to support variable workforce shifts required
◦ SHRM-CP and/or PHR/SPHR certification
