The Human Resources Lead is responsible for supporting business needs and ensuring the proper implementation of company HR strategies and objectives. The HR Lead acts as a liaison between management and employees, providing guidance on HR-related matters and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. This role partners strategically with the Senior HR Director to execute projects across various HR functions, serving as lead project manager for these initiatives. The HR Lead will partner with local leaders in multi-state locations throughout the United States to ensure compliance and reduce risk to the organization while promoting CBX as the employer of choice in our industry.
Essential Functions
• Partner with the Senior HR Director in acquisition-related projects pre- and post-close, including onboarding newly acquired employees, and ensuring completion of time-sensitive HR-related tasks to Generalist team members.
• Partner with the Corporate Training Team to deliver New Hire Orientation weekly.
• Leads initiatives related to employee reward and recognition programs such as SERVE Awards and Service Awards
• Manage the company-wide HR ticket system to ensure team responses' accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
• Assist in managing the workers’ compensation program in conjunction with the Corporate Safety team, including injury reporting processes, post-accident substance testing processes and ongoing claims monitoring in partnership with third-party insurance carriers.
• Responsible for managing the onboarding and offboarding processes for all new hires and exiting employees, including background checks, E-Verify process, exit interviews and motor vehicle reports.
• Administer and oversee the full leave of absence lifecycle in partnership with third-party administrators, serving as the primary HR point of contact for all leave-related processes across the organization. Responsibilities include:
◦ FMLA, STD/LTD, and ADA Accommodations: Partner with third-party administrators to manage leave and disability claims and the ADA interactive accommodation process, ensuring timely and legally compliant administration across all locations.
◦ Leave Tracking: Maintain accurate records of all leave activity, monitoring balances, intermittent usage, and return dates to proactively identify compliance risks or operational impacts.
◦ Return-to-Work Coordination: Facilitate structured return-to-work plans in collaboration with managers, employees, and claims managers, ensuring all documentation is completed prior to reinstatement.
• Deliver consistent, responsive employee services that reinforce trust in the HR function and ensure employees and managers receive timely, accurate support across the full range of HR-related needs. Responsibilities include:
◦ Employee Inquiries: Serve as a knowledgeable and approachable point of contact for employee and manager questions related to HR policies, benefits, leave, compensation, and general employment matters. Manage and triage inquiries through the HR ticket system, ensuring responses are accurate, timely, and consistent with company policy and applicable law.
◦ HR Policy Administration: Support the development, communication, and consistent application of HR policies across all locations. Partner with the Senior HR Director to update policy documentation in response to legal changes or business needs, and provide guidance to managers on proper interpretation and enforcement of company policies.
◦ Unemployment Claims: Oversee the organization’s response to unemployment insurance claims, including reviewing claim documentation, respond timely and accurately to inquiries for the Third Party Administrator, and coordinate with third-party unemployment vendors or legal counsel as appropriate. Track claim outcomes and identify trends that may indicate opportunities for process improvement or manager coaching.
◦ Exit Interviews: Conduct or coordinate structured exit interviews for separating employees, capturing feedback on the employee experience, management effectiveness, and organizational culture. Analyze themes and present findings to HR leadership on a regular cadence to inform retention strategies and continuous improvement efforts.
• Provide operational support for Total Rewards programs, partnering HR Leadership to execute compensation and benefits processes with accuracy and compliance. Responsibilities include:
◦ Bonus Administration: Coordinate the administration of bonus and incentive programs. Support Management by Objectives (MBO) programs by partnering with managers to document goals, track performance against defined targets, and enter approved awards into the HRIS or compensation system in a timely manner. Serve as a resource for managers who need guidance on MBO structure, scoring, and payout mechanics to ensure consistency in how plans are administered across the organization.
◦ Merit Process Administration: Support the annual merit review cycle by assisting with the distribution of merit matrices, tracking manager submissions, validating data integrity, and coordinating final approvals.
◦ Open Enrollment Support: Assist with coordination of annual benefits open enrollment activities.
◦ HR Audits: Support internal and external HR audits by compiling required documentation, ensuring data accuracy, and coordinating responses to audit inquiries.
• Implement and enforce HR policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and industry best practices.
• Partner with HR Business Partners on special projects as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR trends and developments.
• Other HR duties and projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• At least 5-7 years of HR leadership experience
• Dayforce Experience is a plus
• Experience with California state employment law would be a plus.
• Mergers & acquisition experience a plus
• Ability to be in office up to 4 days per week.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
