Purpose

The HR Generalist will provide day-to-day HR operations across core HR functions, including benefits administration, talent management, recruitment, employee relations, and training and development. This role requires a well-rounded HR professional who can handle multiple responsibilities and provide excellent support to team members and management.

Essential Functions

Benefits and Wellness Administration (25%): Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, renewal processes, retirement plans, vendor relationships, wellness programming, and leaves of absence. Maintain accurate employee benefit records and HRIS data, ensuring timely updates and compliance with applicable policies and requirements. Serve as a resource to team members regarding benefits programs, eligibility, enrollment, and related questions.

Recruiting and Onboarding (25%): Partner with recruiters and hiring managers throughout the recruitment and selection process to provide HR guidance and support effective hiring decisions. Participate in talent intake, candidate evaluation, interviews, offers, employment agreements, internships, career fairs, and other talent acquisition initiatives as appropriate. Oversee the HR components of onboarding to ensure new team members have a consistent, welcoming, and compliant introduction to EFCO, partnering with the HR Assistant and hiring managers on required documentation, HRIS setup, orientation, and other onboarding activities. Monitor recruiting and onboarding trends and provide insights to support staffing needs, strengthen the new-hire experience, and improve processes.

Employee Relations and HR Reporting (25%): Address employee inquiries and concerns, mediate conflicts, and support a positive work environment. Manage and respond to HR requests through the HR ticketing system, ensuring timely, accurate, and service-oriented resolution. Support investigations into employee relations issues, document findings, and recommend appropriate actions. Generate and analyze HR metrics and reports related to employee relations, staffing, retention, engagement, or other workforce trends. Maintain data integrity within the HRIS and utilize HR systems and reporting tools to identify trends, support compliance, inform leadership decisions, and improve HR processes.

Performance Management (15%): Assist with the implementation and management of performance review processes and provide guidance to managers on performance-related matters. Build continuous feedback loops to translate employee and manager input into measurable performance and culture improvements. Coordinate and facilitate employee training programs to support HR operations, professional growth, and development. Support team member orientation, employee development initiatives, and projects that enhance the overall team member experience and support leadership.

Payroll Support (10%): Provide administrative support for payroll processes, including reviewing and maintaining employee payroll-related data, coordinating payroll changes, and assisting with timekeeping, deductions, and other payroll-related updates. Partner with payroll and other internal stakeholders to research and resolve discrepancies, ensure accurate and timely processing, and maintain appropriate documentation. Support payroll-related reporting and compliance activities as needed.

Additional duties may be assigned as required by business necessity may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing to meet organizational goals and priorities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of generalist experience in a Human Resources department required. Experience working in multi-state environments with a strong understanding of varying state employment laws and compliance requirements is preferred. Prior experience supporting or managing unionized workforces, including exposure to collective bargaining agreements and labor relations, is a plus.
  • Certification(s) and License(s): SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred
  • Leadership: N/A
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems is required.
  • Other Requirements: Strong knowledge of HR practices, policies, and employment laws; Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations. Advise on HR policy, ensuring alignment with labor laws and organizational values. Stay updated on HR best practices and industry trends; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
