About us:

Cambridge Management, Inc. (CMI) began in 1987 as a small team managing a portfolio of communities in Tacoma, Washington. Our focus soon shifted to providing quality management for affordable housing communities. These affordable communities provide homes for those with limited incomes including families, senior citizens, and people with disabilities. Today, our team has grown to nearly 350 employees managing 120 communities and more than 11,000 apartment homes. Our portfolio includes market rate, Low Income Housing Tax Credit, and Project-Based Section-8 communities that range in size from 6 to 344 units. We currently manage communities in California, Florida, Hawaii, North Carolina, Tennessee, Washington State, and Virginia.

Position Salary Range: $52,000 - $60,000 Depending on years of experience.

Paid time off:

  • An accrual of 80 hours Vacation
  • Up to 6 paid sick days per year. (varies based on state sick leave laws)
  • 8 paid holidays
  • 2 paid floating holidays.

We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist who will be responsible for a variety of responsibilities which require a broad understanding of Human Resources functions. The Human Resources Generalist performs human resources-related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, training, recruiting, and HRIS system data entry.

Essential Functions

Employee Relations:

  • Ensures consistency in compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws as well as company policies and guidelines.
  • Conduct confidential investigations and recommends disciplinary action and solutions by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing investigation information.

Employee Engagement and Support:

  • Assists in the planning and execution of employee recognition events and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Provide HR support and consultation to the business, answering employee and manager questions about HR programs, policies, and other HR-related items.

Human Resources Support:

  • Ability to assist in leave management, and worker compensation management.
  • Data entry into HRIS system.

Training:

  • Creates, develops, and conducts training to promote a positive employee culture.
  • Conducts weekly New Hire Orientation for new employees.

Talent Acquisition:

  • Assisting in Full cycle: from posting open positions, sourcing candidates, conducting candidate phone screens, scheduling interviews, drafting & sending offer letters, background checks, candidate communication, onboarding, and orientation process.

Experience and Education

  • Bi-lingual Required
  • 2+ years of work experience in a HR Generalist capacity
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Experience using UKG PRO is highly desired.
  • Multistate experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficiency with MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to build and maintain trust at all levels, protect and preserve confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize under pressure and meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to complete all required training within thirty (30) days of hire date.
