Summary

Reporting directly to the Workforce Services Manager, responsible for providing HR services including hiring, administering pay/leave, and enforcing Williamson County policies and procedures.

Examples of duties

  • Develop strong working relationships with supported departments
  • Guides managers and employees throughworkforce questions/concerns
  • Assistsemployees with changes, retirement, andemployment separation processes
  • Administers talent acquisition processes to includeopen requisitions, posting vacancies, processing applicants, coordination of pre-employment testing, andon-boarding
  • Partners with payroll on employmentrecords and timekeeping issues
  • Builds new employee record in HumanResourcesInformationSystem(HRIS)and approves workflow entriessubmittedby department liaison ensuring adherence to compensation policies
  • Participates in on-going implementations and testing of HRIS enhancements
  • Processesandmaintainsallemployee filesin an electronic documentrepository system
  • Processes FamilyMedicalLeaveAct (FMLA)requests and required documentation to ensure compliance withcounty policy and FMLA law
  • Responds to Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) unemployment claims
  • Maintains communication withassigneddepartmentsand Risk ManagementregardingWorker’sCompensationclaimsand return to work status
  • Assistswith annual open enrollment including enrollmentassistanceand wellness fair
  • Serves on cross-functional HR team and projects for theimprovement of the organization
  • Utilizes job analysis questionnaire information for positions and prepares job descriptions
  • Complieswithall federal, state,and local lawspertaining toemployment
  • Attends all meetings andtrainings, asrequired
  • Performsspecial duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, repetitive motions, and standing

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
  • Regular travel between work sites as required

IRREGULAR HOURS

  • Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
  • May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency
  • Regular attendance is required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of related Human Resources experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of employee relations and employment laws
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required within thirty (30) days of employment

  • Valid driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or The Society for Human Resources Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)
  • Working knowledge of Workday, UKG/Kronos, and/or Laserfiche
  • Prior experience working as an HR Generalist
  • Prior experience working in a public sector environment
