This is where YOU fit in: As the Human Resources Generalist, you will provide HR expertise and support to the associates who work for NEXCOM at the Naval Air Station Lemoore…no two days will look the same.
The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of the local HR office, provide professional HR guidance and assistance to managers and associates, and make a positive daily impact to the mission of serving the best customer – our activity duty and retired military, dependents and civilian patrons.

So, what might a “typical” day look like?
oEffectively work with managers to develop recruiting strategies to hire and retain high caliber talent; identify and partner with local agencies and businesses to publicize our job opportunities.
oResponsible for the current and accurate maintenance of official Human Resources records while ensuring the privacy of personal and confidential data.
oAssist associates with HR related questions and concerns, such as benefits, payroll, job growth and development, and a myriad of other topics.
oCoordinate with District HR to identify and provide training for all levels of associates; including onboarding new associates, management training, and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
oProvide guidance to managers regarding employee/labor relations, such as counseling, disciplinary actions and resolution of grievances/complaints.
oUse of PeopleSoft (PS) HR database and Taleo (recruitment platform) systems.
The Qualifiers:
oMust possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform job duties, including recruiting, training, data administration, and HR reporting systems and processes.
oStrong proficiency with MSOffice applications and HR management systems.
oMust pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE 3 years of responsible experience in non-routine work which enabled the applicant to gain a good general understanding of the systems methods and administrative machinery for accomplishing work. The ability to analyze problems, apply sound judgment in assessing practical implications of alternative solutions, and resolving the problems presented. The ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE 1 year of academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4-year bachelor's degree for 3 years of general experience.
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE One year of responsible experience in Human Resources work that provided the ability to apply knowledge of rules, regulations, procedures, and program requirements of the Human Resources management function.

The Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) Enterprise encompasses six business lines, boasting a workforce of more than 14,000 associates located around the globe. The command’s mission is to provide quality goods and services at a savings and support Navy quality of life programs for active duty military, retirees, reservists, veterans, Department of Defense civilians and families. The NEXCOM Enterprise is a non-appropriated fund instrumentality (NAFI) of the Department of Defense and the Department of the Navy. Therefore, most of NEXCOM’s expenses are paid with its earnings and not taxpayer dollars.
