Summary

The Human Resource Generalist performs daily operations of the Human Resource department including talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, leave and HR policies and procedures. This position manages all administrative functions for the department. This position is assigned to pay grade G18.

Examples of duties

  • Manages the human capital system for the entire employment life cycle to include applicant tracking, onboarding, employee maintenance, benefits, offboarding and employee records.
  • Manages the applicant tracking system to include personnel requisitions, job postings and screening of applicants. May extend conditional offers of employment with oversight of the Human Resources Manager.
  • Assists in representing the organization in recruitment and other community events.
  • Oversees new employee orientation including scheduling, room preparation, participation in presentations, and benefits enrollment.
  • Handles human resources related inquiries from applicants, employees, and leaders, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to Human Resources leadership.
  • Maintains employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details.
  • Plans and organizes events such as retirement celebrations, Service Awards Banquet, etc.
  • Supports the Human Resources team in projects, strategic initiatives and other activities as needed.
  • Performs administrative tasks including processing purchase orders, requisitions, supplies, etc.
  • Creates and maintains badge system. Updates badge access as needed.
  • Exercises purchasing authority up to $1,000 without approval from supervisor.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
  • In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, management, business administration or any related course study.
  • Associate’s degree in human resources, management, business administration or any related course study and One (1) year of operational human resources experience
  • in lieu of bachelor's acceptable.
  • Six (6) months of work experience in Human Resources or related field required.
  • PSHRA/SHRM/PHR certifications are preferred.
