Greater Philadelphia YMCA Employment Opportunity!

Human Resources Generalist

Conshohocken, PA | Full Time, Salary | $55,000 - $60,000

We believe that great people build great communities.

We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist to help create a strong employee experience across the YMCA. This is a broad, hands-on HR role supporting employees and leaders throughout the organization in areas including HRIS administration, recruitment, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, compliance, and other day-to-day Human Resources needs.

You'll be part of the team that helps our employees succeed and keeps essential HR processes running smoothly—from welcoming new employees and supporting managers to maintaining accurate employee records, answering questions, and helping resolve workplace concerns. If you're an HR professional who enjoys variety, builds strong relationships, and can move comfortably between systems, processes, and people, we'd love to meet you.

Some rewards for joining our team:

  • Free YMCA membership—access to all branches!
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Sweet discounts on child care and summer camp programs
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life Insurances
  • Generous Paid Time Off + 7 paid holidays throughout the year
  • Planning for your future? Ask us how we do it at the Y—it's awesome!
  • Supplemental insurance benefits

What is needed for this job as our Human Resources Generalist:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • Three to five years of experience as a Human Resources professional strongly preferred
  • Experience working with HCM/HRIS systems required; experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable employment laws and Human Resources practices, including talent management, recruitment and selection, compensation, benefits, employee relations, training and development, and performance management
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with employees and leaders throughout the organization
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity, discretion, and professionalism
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office products
  • Previous experience with nonprofit or volunteer organizations preferred

The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Human Resources Generalist:

  • Support day-to-day Human Resources operations and provide responsive guidance and assistance to employees and leaders across the organization
  • Administer HR policies, procedures, and programs while helping ensure consistent practices throughout the YMCA
  • Assist with HRIS administration, including employee data management, personnel records, reporting, system functionality, and user training
  • Facilitate hiring and onboarding processes, maintain employee information within the HRIS, and help deliver new employee orientation
  • Support recruitment efforts for exempt and nonexempt positions and other talent acquisition initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records and support required compliance reviews and audits
  • Support employee relations efforts, including workplace investigations, employee relations counseling, engagement initiatives, exit interviews, and resolution of other employee concerns
  • Assist with benefits, employee communications, employment verifications, unemployment documentation, and other HR programs and processes
  • Partner with employees and leaders to answer questions, resolve concerns, and help foster a positive and engaging workplace
  • Help maintain and improve HR processes, employee communication tools, job descriptions, reporting, and other staff support systems
  • Participate in organizational meetings, training, special events, and other initiatives that support our employees and the YMCA's mission

What you can expect:

  • A broad HR role with exposure to multiple areas of Human Resources rather than a narrow specialty
  • The opportunity to work directly with employees and leaders throughout the organization
  • Hands-on experience across HRIS administration, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits, and employee support
  • A collaborative environment where you'll help improve both the employee experience and the HR processes that support it
  • Meaningful work supporting the employees who deliver the YMCA's mission every day
