Human Resources Generalist
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm - (1/2-hour lunch)
Location: Kamloops Corporate Office (this is an office-based role)
Reports to: People & Talent Manager
Department: People & Talent
Salary: $62,400- $90,000 annually

Big Country Equipment Repair is growing, and we're looking for an HR Generalist who wants to help build something—not just maintain it.
This is a new role within Big Country and an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys being hands-on, solving problems, researching legislation, improving processes, and working closely with employees and leaders.
Working alongside the People & Talent Manager, you will help build and implement HR policies, processes, programs, and tools that support our growing, multi-provincial organization.
What You'll Do
• Create and maintain offer of employment contracts and job descriptions
• Create and support a positive and memorable onboarding experience
• Support recruitment initiatives and assist recruiters with administrative tasks
• Prepare employment letters, HR documentation, forms, and templates
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS information
• Support employee relations, performance management, engagement, and recognition initiatives
• Assist the payroll department with employee communications and respond to queries regarding HR aspects of payroll, benefits, vacation, and leaves
• Research provincial employment legislation and assist with HR compliance across Canada
• Help develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and processes
• Coordinate employee training and maintain certification and training records
• Prepare HR reports, metrics, and employee data
• Support HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide professional and confidential HR support to employees and managers
• Take on new challenges as Big Country's HR function continues to grow
• Assist with implementation of ATS and HRIS
What We're Looking For
• We're looking for someone who is organized, curious, resourceful, and genuinely enjoys working with people. This, coupled with solid HR Generalist experience, will make you a great addition to the team.
What You'll bring:
• 2+ years of HR generalist experience
• Diploma or certificate in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
• Working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization and attention to detail
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
• Strong judgment and the ability to handle confidential information
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
• Experience with HRIS, payroll, or applicant tracking systems is an asset (Dayforce is a bonus)
• CPHR designation or working toward your CPHR is an asset
• Experience in mining, construction, heavy equipment, oil & gas, or another industrial environment is an asset
