Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist for a new full time, 1 year fixed term contract to support a unionized production-driven industrial manufacturing operation. This role is focused on employee relations, labour relations support, policy interpretation, HR administration, and legislative compliance, with a strong emphasis on practical application of the Employment Standards Act (ESA).
Key Responsibilities
• Provide day to day HR generalist support to management and employees within a unionized industrial manufacturing environment
• Interpret and apply collective agreements, company policies, and employment legislation
• Support employee relations matters including discipline, attendance management, accommodation, investigations, and grievance support
• Administer HR processes such as:
◦ Employee lifecycle transactions (onboarding, role changes, terminations)
◦ Leaves of absence (ESA, WSIB coordination, disability administration support)
◦ Benefits and payroll coordination (data accuracy and escalation, not payroll processing)
• Apply Employment Standards Act (ESA) requirements with demonstrated practical judgment
• Prepare HR documentation including letters, records, and reports
• Ensure accurate record keeping within Ceridian Dayforce and HR systems
• Partner with operations and leadership to ensure consistent and compliant HR practices
• Support audits, compliance reviews, and internal reporting as required
Qualifications
• Minimum 4 years of progressive HR Generalist experience within a unionized industrial manufacturing environment
• Post secondary education in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field
• Strong demonstrated knowledge and application of the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA)
• Experience supporting employee relations and labour relations activities
• High attention to detail with excellent organization and documentation skills
• Ability to operate independently in a fast paced, operational setting
• Strong communication skills with the confidence to work with hourly and salaried employees, supervisors, and leadership
Systems & Technical Skills
• Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is highly desirable
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Comfortable working with HRIS data, reports, and system workflows
Additional Assets
• CHRP or working toward a professional HR designation
• Experience supporting collective agreement administration and grievances
Compensation: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 annually
