BACKGROUND

The Ranch at Rock Creek is the world’s first Forbes Five Star luxury guest ranch — a remote, four-season destination set against southwestern Montana's Sapphire Mountains, and a member of Leading Hotels of the World. Working here means leading people in a genuinely unique operating environment: a close-knit, seasonal workforce, on-site housing, and a level of service excellence that few properties in the world are held to.

The Director of Human Resources leads the full HR function at The Ranch — employment, compensation and benefits, training, employee and labor relations, organizational development, and payroll oversight — while serving as a steward of workplace culture and a trusted resource for employees at every level. This role partners closely with the General Manager to maximize employee engagement and service excellence, and serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, leading a team of three HR professionals.

  • Direct recruitment and hiring strategy for all exempt and non-exempt roles, including seasonal and remote-destination recruiting; personally lead recruitment for executive-level positions.
  • Own compensation and benefits administration — conduct market wage/salary/benefit surveys, recommend enhancements, and administer employment, wage, 401(k), and bonus programs.
  • Design and oversee training and development programs, including required anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training, management/supervisory development, and brand-standard training goals.
  • Direct performance management across all departments, including administration of performance appraisals and the disciplinary process.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant HR records and systems, and monitor the property's compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment law.
  • Oversee and investigate employee relations and labor matters, ensuring a fair, consistent, and legally sound process.
  • Participate in the budget process for staffing, productivity, and benefits/labor costs; monitor turnover and recommend improvements.
  • Oversee payroll processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and risk mitigation.
  • Administer associate benefit programs, including enrollment and vendor coordination.
  • Serve as an active member of the Senior Leadership Team, partnering with property leadership on organizational goals.
  • Maintain independence and confidentiality in all employee relations matters, avoiding any actual or perceived conflict of interest in the handling of complaints or investigations.
  • Disclose promptly any personal, financial, or relational conflict of interest that could compromise objectivity in an HR matter, andrecuse as appropriate.
  • Ensure all employees have a clear, confidential path to raise workplace concerns, and that all complaints are handled without retaliation, consistent with company policy and applicable law.
