Schedule: M-F 8A - 5P: The typical workday concludes around 5:00 p.m.; however, occasional extended hours may be needed based on meetings, deadlines, and organizational priorities, including the Manager on Duty rotation.

Your Role on the Team

As our Human Resources Director, you will:

  • Lead, support, and provide day-to-day direction to designated Goshen HR team members.
  • Partner with campus leadership and department managers to understand current and future staffing needs.
  • Develop and oversee proactive recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Support application review, interviewing, hiring, and pre-employment processes.
  • Train and guide managers and peer interviewers on effective, consistent hiring practices.
  • Build trusted relationships with supervisors and team members while providing practical HR guidance.
  • Interpret and consistently apply HR policies, procedures, and employment practices.
  • Advise leaders on employee relations matters, performance concerns, corrective action, and workplace issues.
  • Escalate sensitive or high-risk matters to the Chief Human Resources Officer and other leaders as appropriate.
  • Administer and track leaves of absence, required documentation, and return-to-work arrangements.
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation claims, incident documentation, investigations, and transitional-duty plans.
  • Respond to unemployment claims, requests for information, and appeals.
  • Support team member benefit eligibility, enrollment, changes, terminations, and team member questions.
  • Oversee HRIS administration and help maintain accurate team member records and HR data.
  • Process assigned payroll adjustments, retroactive pay, additional earnings, and court-ordered garnishments.
  • Help maintain accurate OSHA, EEO, payroll, benefit, and employment records.
  • Support compensation reviews and related communication with campus leaders.
  • Participate in campus leadership meetings, team member recognition activities, and organizational initiatives.
  • Conduct timely performance feedback sessions, including 90-day and annual reviews.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen processes, communication, team member experience, and HR service.
  • Participate in campus leadership responsibilities, including the Manager on Duty rotation and other campus support programs as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

  • An associate degree in human resources, business, or a related field - or five to ten years of equivalent experience - is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in human resources, payroll, and recruitment is required.
  • Experience supervising or leading HR team members is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of employment practices, team member relations, benefits, leave administration, workers’ compensation, and HR compliance.
  • Strong communication, organization, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms and employee recordkeeping.
  • Familiarity with healthcare, senior living, or the Greencroft organization is beneficial.
  • SHRM certification is preferred.

Approximately 2,000 people live in Greencroft-related communities, served by 1,100 team members, in northern Indiana, north-central Ohio and central Michigan. People from at least 20 faith traditions make up the resident populations.
