Job Location New York, NY 10018 Position Type Full Time Education Level 4 Year Degree Salary Range $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 Salary Travel Percentage Up to 25% Job Shift Day Job Category Human Resources Comunilife Inc is looking for a Human Resources Director to join its Human Resources Team. The Human Resources Director leads the daily operations of the Human Resources Department, ensuring compliance, effective benefits administration, onboarding, employee relations, and strategic alignment with organizational goals. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this role is responsible for maintaining HRIS data integrity, driving workforce planning, and fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. This position is eligible for Comunilife's generous benefits and paid time off package.
Essential Duties:
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Lead the development and execution of HR strategies, systems, and policies that support organizational growth and mission alignment.
  • Partner with executive leadership to drive organizational development, change management, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Develop and implement succession planning and talent development programs to build leadership capacity across the organization.
 Compliance & Legal Risk Management
  • Ensure HR practices and policies comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Monitor legal trends and proactively mitigate HR-related risks through policy updates, training, and documentation.
  • Prepare and support internal and external audits of personnel files and HR processes.
HRIS & Data Integrity
  • Maintain and audit HRIS data; manage employee changes via electronic Personnel Action Forms.
  • Lead HRIS optimization efforts, including system upgrades, integrations, and leveraging analytics for strategic decision-making.
Benefits & Compensation
  • Administer and audit employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, retirement, disability, workers’ comp, life insurance) for compliance and effectiveness.
  • Oversee compensation strategy, including salary benchmarking, pay equity analysis, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Review and approve benefit invoices and ensure timely processing.
Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Oversee recruitment strategy and collaborate with recruiters to improve sourcing, selection, and hiring timelines.
  • Supervise the onboarding process, including background checks, credential verification, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with VP of HR and Executive Staff to improve departmental orientation and retention initiatives.

Employee Relations & Engagement
  • Lead employee relations investigations and escalate matters as needed.
  • Support performance management, including appraisals, professional development, and employee recognition.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across the organization, ensuring HR practices support an inclusive workplace culture.
Metrics & Workforce Planning
  • Develop and present HR metrics and dashboards (e.g., turnover, time-to-fill, engagement scores, compliance status) to leadership.
  • Lead workforce planning initiatives, including forecasting staffing needs, analyzing turnover trends, and developing retention strategies.
Budgeting & Vendor Management
  • Manage the vendor relationships, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.
Operations & Special Projects
  • Manage HR support staff and recommend improvements to internal processes, team structure, and morale-building initiatives.
  • Maintain organizational charts and support special projects assigned.
Crisis Management & Business Continuity
  • Participate in organizational risk assessments and lead HR’s response to crises, including workforce disruptions, legal matters, or public relations issues.



Qualifications


Education and Experience Requirement(s) A Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or the degree may be exchanged for three (5+) years of experience within a busy Human Resources Office with exposure to all functions with focus on Benefits and leave administration.

Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

Comunilife has 2,756 apartments/units in 12 supportive residences, 6 low-income apartment buildings and 1,480 scatter site apartments in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan. Our Medical Respite program provides short-term supportive housing and case management services to multiply-challenged patients leaving hospital care without a viable home in which to recuperate.

Comunilife is a leader in the field of Latina adolescent suicide prevention. Our Life is Precious™ Program, which opened in 2008, provides non-clinical services to girls’ ages 12 to 17 in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Poughkeepsie, Yonkers, Hempstead, and Amsterdam. Activities include academic support, creative arts therapies, music lessons, wellness activities and concrete family services, are designed to reduce the risk factors associated with Latina adolescent suicide.
