About the role:

The Human Resources Coordinator reports to the Manager, Human Resources, and supports the coordination of day-to-day operations and the delivery of a high-quality HR support service to managers and employees across the organisation.

The role provides professional, accurate and timely advice on end-to-end HR processes and contributes to the effective implementation of HR initiatives and practices.

The position works collaboratively with members of the HR team, Corporate Support teams and program managers, and maintains regular engagement with employees across the organisation to ensure effective workforce outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

1. Provide high level, professional, accurate and timely advice to managers and employees on a range of HR matters, including interpretation of relevant legislation, organisational policies, employment conditions and the Wuchopperen Enterprise Agreement.
2. Coordinate end-to-end recruitment, onboarding and offboarding processes, including advertising, candidate management, preparation of employment documentation, induction and exit procedures, ensuring alignment with workforce plans and funding requirements.
3. Administer and maintain HR systems, including the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), Employment Hero, ensuring accurate, timely and confidential management of employee data, and compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
4. In consultation with the Manager, Human Resources provide advice and support to managers on employee relations matters, including probation and performance reviews, grievances, complaints, performance management, workplace investigations, conflict resolution and mediation, ensuring matters are managed fairly, consistently and in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.
5. Prepare and maintain accurate employment-related documentation, including contracts, variations, correspondence, reports and compliance records, in line with legislative and organisational standards.
6. Collect, analyse and maintain HR data to support reporting against key performance indicators, and contribute to reviews and evaluation activities to support continuous improvement.
7. Participate in organisational and community activities to advance the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
8. Work within Wuchopperen’s Policies and Procedures including the Staff Code of Conduct and the Work Health and Safety requirements and contribute to continuous improvement processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and safe, effective service delivery.
9. Other duties as required, within your skills, experience and capacity.

Core Capabilities:

Assessment of merit for this role will be based on the knowledge, skills and experience, potential for development and personal qualities. The competencies listed below are considered to the most critical for success in this role.

For applicants to be successful in this role, they should demonstrate:

• A tertiary qualification in Human Resources and/or extensive experience in a generalist HR role, preferably within the health sector, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, or other community-controlled organisations.
• Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures from an historical and contemporary perspective, including the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Proven experience providing specialist HR advice and coaching to managers and employees, including interpretation of industrial relations legislation and employment conditions. This includes practical experience managing employee relations matters such as workplace complaints, grievances, performance management, disciplinary processes, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations, as well as experience in administering and maintaining Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS).
• Extensively developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders as well as effectively advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment, effectively prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines, and manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Demonstrated ability to meet and work within the core values and behaviours of Wuchopperen.

Qualifications and experience:

• A tertiary qualification in Human Resources and/or extensive experience in a generalist HR role, preferably within the health sector, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, or other community-controlled organisations.

Requirements:

• Hold a current Blue Card (for suitability to work with children and young people).
• Proof of qualifications is required to be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
• Possess a current driver’s licence.
• A commitment to adhere to Wuchopperen’s policies and procedures.
