Human Resources Business Partner

MSC USA - Miami


The HR Business Partner will lead strategic and day-to-day
HR operations for the Miami Branch office, overseeing all HR initiatives,
processes, workforce planning, and programs. Core HR responsibilities include
employee relations support and coaching, performance management, talent
development, recruitment, onboarding, and employee engagement. The role will
initially support the Miami Branch, with scope gradually expanding to include the
New Orleans Branch office.

The ideal candidate will bring strong employee relations and
performance management experience, a proven ability to influence leaders, and
the independence to succeed in a fast-paced operational environment.

The Miami office is located at 655 NW 3rd Ave, Miami, FL
33136. This position requires an in-office presence Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

Workforce, Performance and Talent Management

  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers on people-related matters, including talent acquisition, onboarding and orientation, performance management, talent development, employee engagement, change management, rewards and recognition, career progression, and related areas.
  • Partner with department leaders and managers to support the effective resolution of employee relations and performance management matters, including counseling best practices and the progressive discipline process.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and manage related documentation, escalation, and communication in a timely and professional manner.
  • Facilitate the annual performance management process to ensure timely completion, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend training where appropriate.
  • Ensure the office organizational structure supports business growth and operational effectiveness.
  • Conduct exit interviews to assess turnover drivers and identify opportunities to strengthen retention.
  • Monitor new-hire turnover and gather feedback regarding the candidate and onboarding experience.
  • Support organizational change management initiatives.
  • Champion and lead the local deployment of HR initiatives, including talent assessments, annual performance reviews, succession management, engagement action planning, and related programs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with branch management to proactively communicate and implement change initiatives.

Talent Acquisition

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including requisition creation, job posting and advertising, candidate sourcing, pre-screening, interviewing, selection, and timely communication with applicants and hiring managers.
  • Partner with department heads and hiring managers to forecast staffing needs and develop a qualified candidate pipeline aligned with business priorities.

Onboarding

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and manage 30/60/90-day onboarding activities to provide an engaging and effective experience for team members transitioning into new roles, whether internally or externally.
  • Ensure all onboarding and new-hire documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Process new-hire and transfer transactions in applicable HR systems and related reference tools.

Compliance

  • Ensure office compliance with company policies and federal and state employment laws, partnering with the HR COE team as needed to mitigate risk and potential company liability.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and proactively recommend solutions to maintain compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

This role requires working on-site in the office for five days a
week, from Monday to Friday. There is no option for fully remote or hybrid work
in this role, unless required off-site duties are being performed.

Qualifications & Key Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may also be considered.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SHPR, or PHR certification preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in supply chain, transportation, shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, or customer service preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of progressive HR Generalist or HR Business Partner experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting multiple employee relations, performance and talent management, organizational change and training and development.
  • Ability to align people strategy with business strategy to deliver measurable value and impact.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and drive effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with employees at all levels within a large, matrixed organization.
  • Ability to coach employees and leaders through complex and sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Ability to lead and support an organization through change.
  • Ability to leverage data to inform strategy and drive business results.
  • Knowledge of core HR policies, procedures, practices, and employment law fundamentals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while ensuring timely and effective follow-through.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Quarterly travel is required
    to support HR initiatives and conduct branch office visits.
