
About Bering Straits Native Corporation
Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) was formed as a result of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) in 1972. BSNC became the regional Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) for the Bering Strait region, which encompasses the majority of the Seward Peninsula and the coastal lands of eastern Norton Sound. This is one of the most culturally diverse regions in the state. Three distinct Native languages are spoken: St. Lawrence Island Yupik, Central Yup’ik, and Inupiaq.

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic and hands‑on HR advisor to leaders and employees. This role provides guidance across HR functions, drives operational excellence, supports federal contracting requirements, and contributes to a positive employee experience. The HRBP will proactively partner with leadership to address organizational needs, cultivate strong working relationships, and ensure alignment between HR practices and business goals.
This is a highly visible role requiring strong judgment, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Serve as a trusted HR advisor to leadership and operational teams, providing guidance on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and employee relations.
· Conduct regular check‑ins (at least quarterly) with assigned business units to ensure alignment with HR priorities.
· Interpret and apply contracts, CBA provisions, regulations, and policy requirements consistently across the organization.
· Educate managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and performance development expectations.
· Lead and coordinate HR initiatives, including policy updates, training, system enhancements, and organizational changes.
· Manage all onboarding, offboarding, and employee life‑cycle transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
· Partner with managers to develop written materials such as communications, training resources, and performance documents.
· Create and analyze HR reports, metrics, and regulatory deliverables to support leadership decision‑making.
· Lead or support cross‑functional HR projects that enhance processes, systems, or employee experience.
· Utilize HRIS systems to analyze data, manage transactions, and generate required reports.
· Maintain and update HR policies, forms, procedures, and workflows to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
· Conduct audits of HR practices, identify areas of risk or improvement, and recommend corrective actions.
· Facilitate new‑hire orientation sessions as needed.
· Administer DOT and non‑DOT drug testing programs, including coordination of pre‑employment and random testing.
· Respond to employee information requests and HR inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
Education
· Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
· 5+ years of progressive HR experience across multiple functional areas.
· Previous experience supporting a multi‑company environment and/or federal contracting strongly preferred.
· Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
· Experience with project management and related tools preferred.
· Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and a desire to deepen expertise, including OFCCP, federal contracting, and compliance requirements.

Additional Qualifying Factors
