Human Resources Assistant | Giles Automotive Group

Lafayette, LA | Starting pay-$21/hr

Giles Automotive has recently promoted our wonderful HR Assistant, and we now have the opportunity to open this entry-level position for a versatile and analytical individual who can assist with all things HR. This includes working closely with our HR Manager and Talent Manager with employee acquisition, running payroll, and HR administrative duties.

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation and Schedule: This position is starting at $21 and hour with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week with weekends off.

Training and Support: Our previous assistant is still in house so you’ll have direct training with her alongside our HR Manager as well. However, there is still a lot to develop, and you will have room to shape your skills whether you are just starting your HR journey or have minimal experience.

What we’re looking for:

We are going to be paying particularly close attention to your education and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience would be great but not required
• SHRM-P credential preferred
• Don’t have any of that but you’re a hard worker that isn’t scared of complicated excel spreadsheets and administrative work…still apply!
• Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications. We will bring the education, but you need to bring a strong since of computer skills and administrative processes.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures
• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact with professionalism
• Time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to function well in a fast paced and at times, stressful environment

What you’ll do:

As the assistant, you’ll aid with and facilitate the HR processes at all of our business locations. Here is a brief rundown of a few tasks you can look forward to.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation
• Manage and coordinate payroll functions including processing, questions, fixing errors, and distributing checks
• Process required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions
• Preform periodic audits of HR files and record to ensure all required documents are collected and filed appropriately
• Provide clerical support to HR department
• Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
• Complete, verify, and maintain I-9 forms
• Assist with terminations, separations and onboarding
