Job Description

Title: Human Resources Assistant

Reports to: Human Resource Manager

Location Henderson, KY Corrugated Box Plant

The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing a wide array of human resources services to employees. The ideal candidate will be detail-orientated, efficient and able to prioritize tasks in order to maximize the efficiency of the department.

The Human Resources Assistant will provide administrative support for the HR team which will encompass all aspects of HR including, but not limited to, recruiting & hiring, training, benefits administration, legal compliance, project management and attendance/vacation tracking.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support to the HR Manager including data entry, call logs, filing, running reports, etc.
  • Assist with HR daily processes including timecard administration, coordinate with hiring managers on recruiting, testing, interviewing & selection process, ensure legal compliance regarding applicant tracking and provide administrative support to all HR events.
  • Screen applicants and provide routine information; maintain all employee application records. Send out or conduct authorized reference checks, process, and receive criminal background screening results, and physical and drug test results.
  • Create and maintain employee personnel files.
  • Manage employee orientation and the communication of employee benefits. Respond to routine questions and inquiries.
  • Prepare new hire packets, orientation materials, benefit packets and other employee communications for distribution.
  • Maintain Applicant Tracking System (ADP Recruiting Management)
  • Manage and track time off requests
  • Support HR Manager with benefits and payroll related items

Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years office experience in Human Resources preferred.
  • Experience managing projects and problem solving.
  • Effective and deliberate communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and good judgment with handling sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with ADP Recruiting Management and Vantage or other HRIS
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively multi-task with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and change in a dynamic business environment.
  • Desire and commitment to learn and grow within the organization while always maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
