POSITION PURPOSE
The Human Resources Assistant supports the mission of Chattanooga Goodwill by providing comprehensive administrative duties in support of the Human Resources department’s daily operations. This position plays a role in ensuring efficient day-to-day HR operations while delivering a welcoming, professional, and service-oriented experience. The Human Resources Assistant assists with human resources and safety-related functions under established policies and procedures, contributing to a positive, well-organized, and mission focused workplace environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS
The following functions are considered essential unless otherwise noted.
Mission, Vision, and Values Alignment
Through words and actions support Chattanooga Goodwill’s Mission, Vision, and Values; furthermore, actions and decisions will align with organizational guiding principles.
Maintain agency, employee, and participants confidentiality. Violation of confidentiality may be cause for termination.
Demonstrate Goodwill’s guiding principles in all interactions, including stewardship, respect, and service excellence.
Reception and Hospitality
Greet and assist all individuals entering Human Resources, ensuring a positive first impression.
Answer and direct phone calls, respond to inquiries, etc.
Administrative Support:
Provide general administrative support to HR/Safety.
Maintain accurate employee files (Electronic and Physical).
Serve as general resource to employees.
Support New Hire Orientation.
Generate audit reports and assist with auditing files.
Data entry.
Create and disburse name badges for all new hires.
Organizational Engagement:
Assist with onboarding volunteers.
Support organizational initiatives as necessary.
Other Duties:
Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR or business a plus.
One to three years of experience in HR or administration role preferred.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and office technology.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Ability to exercise good judgment, maintain confidentiality, and represent Goodwill’s values.
