The Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to serve as a Human Resource Assistant within our Shared Services Center (SSC), part of the Office of Human Resource Consulting Services. In this role, you’ll be part of a collaborative team that provides full-service HR support to 16 small state agencies. You’ll take ownership of processing all HR transactions for wage employees at our client agencies and play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the SSC team. Considerable experience as a Human Resource Assistant or in a relevant human resources/administrative position. Working knowledge of general Human Resource policies and procedures. Working knowledge of payroll practices and procedures. Demonstrated ability to effectively and appropriately work with sensitive and confidential data, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, coordinate multiple assignments and meet critical deadlines. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and perform a wide variety of administrative assignments and to effectively manage office activities. Demonstrated ability to prepare and compile reports. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff both orally and in writing. Experience with Cardinal Human Capital Management System (Cardinal HCM) or similar Human Resource Information System (HRIS). Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. High school graduate or equivalent.
Courses in Business, office practices and procedures, and automated business applications. State government experience. Experience in human resources for a government entity

The modern government of Virginia is nearly identical in structure to the federal government, and is divided into 3 branches, these being the executive, legislative, and judiciary branches. The Virginia General Assembly is comprised of the 100-member House of Delegates and the 40-member Senate. A governor and lieutenant governor are elected every 4 years. Governors cannot be elected to or serve consecutive terms. Virginia’s judicial system consists of the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals of Virginia, the Circuit Courts, and the lower General District Courts and the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts. Virginia has 13 electoral votes in presidential elections, and possesses 11 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
