Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting two Human Resources (HR) Advisers on a permanent, full-time/part-time contract. No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work within a diverse and vibrant organisation. You will help our University thrive by supporting our people leaders through a wide range of HR initiatives and challenges.

You'll be joining an HR team of more than 50 professionals within one of Wellington's largest employers. As an HR Adviser, you'll work across employment relations, organisational design, workforce planning, recruitment, and change management, providing practical, people-centred advice to managers and you will be trusted to independently manage a range of routine employment matters, escalating more complex issues as required.

Ō pūmanawa – About you

You may already be working in an HR Adviser, or Senior HR Coordination role. You will have the confidence to independently undertake employment relations casework and advise managers on people matters such as performance, conduct, attendance, flexible work, and workplace relationship issues, recruitment and offer documentation.

You are someone who enjoys building trusted relationships, solving problems, and supporting leaders to navigate people matters with confidence. You'll bring a customer-focused mindset, and you'll enjoy working collaboratively and making a positive difference for the people you support.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

• Experience providing operational and client-facing HR support, with exposure to areas such as recruitment and offer documentation, change management, HR systems, or workforce planning.
• Experience advising managers on employment relations matters and independently managing routine casework.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage completing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence across a range of stakeholders.
• Confidence working with systems and data, including Microsoft applications and HR information systems.
• A collaborative approach, knowing when to work independently and when to seek support or involve colleagues to achieve the best outcome.
• A proactive, adaptable mindset and a genuine commitment to delivering great service.
