The Opportunity

Workstreet is looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources Administrator to support our India-based workforce, employed through our EOR partner, Rippling. Based in Gurugram, you'll serve as the ground-level operational backbone of our People function for India — resolving employee queries, maintaining clean and accurate Rippling records, supporting recruitment and screening, and acting as the first point of contact between our India-based employees and the People Ops team. This is a true HR generalist support role with broad exposure across statutory compliance, HRIS administration, and employee experience, working closely with the Global People Ops Team.

What you'll do

Employee Support & Interactions

  • Serve as the first point of contact for India-based employee questions on policies, payroll, benefits, and Rippling-related queries; use sound judgment to resolve routine matters directly and escalate complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate People Ops team member
  • Support day-to-day, ground-level HR administration for the India population, ensuring queries are closed out promptly and nothing falls through the cracks
  • Act as a liaison between employees and Rippling's HR advisors (EOR-side) to resolve platform or payroll issues

HRIS & Data Management

  • Maintain accurate employee records in Rippling, including personal details, compensation information, PF/ESI details, bank details, and work location data
  • Conduct regular bio and profile cleanup to catch outdated, incomplete, or mismatched employee data before it affects payroll, benefits, or compliance reporting
  • Reconcile compensation data between internal trackers and Rippling to ensure accuracy across pay cycles
  • Track and report on compliance-related metrics (statutory filings, PF/ESI contributions, leave balances) to the People Ops team
  • Identify and report bugs, data discrepancies, or platform issues directly to Rippling's support team, and follow through until resolved

Recruitment Support

  • Support recruitment coordination and screening for India-based hires, including scheduling, candidate communication, and initial documentation checks
  • Support background verification processes in line with Indian data privacy and employment norms

Statutory & Regulatory Awareness

  • Maintain working knowledge of Indian labour law as it applies to the EOR-employed population, including the Code on Wages 2019, Code on Social Security 2020, Payment of Gratuity Act, and POSH Act 2013
  • Apply knowledge of the Haryana Shops and Commercial Establishments Act and Haryana-specific holiday and leave entitlements, given the Gurugram base
  • Flag potential compliance gaps or discrepancies between contract terms and statutory obligations (for example, notice periods, leave entitlements, or holiday pay) to the People Ops team rather than resolving these independently

Who you are

  • Currently based in Gurugram, Haryana (non-negotiable — role requires physical presence for local compliance and coordination needs)
  • 3-5 years of HR administration or people operations experience, ideally supporting a US-headquartered or global employer
  • Working knowledge of Indian labour law fundamentals: PF, ESI, gratuity, POSH, and state Shops and Establishments Act requirements
  • Familiarity with EOR arrangements and the distinction between the legal employer (EOR) and the client company is a strong plus
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems; experience with Rippling is a strong plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail — you catch the mismatched date, the missing statutory field, and the outdated record before anyone else does
  • Highly organized and self-directed, able to manage multiple employee queries, trackers, and follow-ups without dropping threads
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; comfortable corresponding with employees, Rippling's HR advisors, and internal stakeholders
  • High degree of discretion, integrity, and professionalism when handling confidential employee and company information
  • Sound judgment in employee-facing conversations, knowing when to resolve directly and when to escalate

What help you succeed

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with employees, candidates, and internal stakeholders
  • A reliable, high-speed internet connection and a professional home/office environment that supports confidential conversations and uninterrupted collaboration
  • Willingness and ability to work from Gurugram and travel locally for onsite meetings or team gatherings as needed
  • Comfort working across time zones to coordinate with the US-based People Ops team

What we offer

  • Career Development Clear path with mentorship and training opportunities.
  • Role-Related Training: Reimbursement for the successful completion of approved training and certification courses relevant to your current role.
  • Competitive Compensation: A competitive base salary with regular performance reviews linked to merit-based appraisals and bonus opportunities.
  • Growth Opportunity Early-stage company with significant room for career advancement.
  • Remote-First Culture Flexibility to work from anywhere while collaborating with a global team.

What you'll need to thrive

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with candidates, hiring managers, and business leaders across global teams.
  • A reliable, high-speed internet connection and a professional home office environment that supports confidential conversations, virtual interviews, and uninterrupted collaboration.
  • Commitment to working a standard schedule of 8:00 AM–5:00 PM U.S. Eastern Time (ET) to effectively collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and cross-functional partners while ensuring timely communication and support.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally for occasional onsite meetings, team gatherings, or business activities as needed.

Hiring and Selection Process

  • Candidates must participate in live video interviews throughout the hiring process with camera on (non-negotiable) and be prepared to verify their identity during recruitment and onboarding.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of identity verification and background screening, where permitted by law.
  • Selected candidates will participate in structured interviews with hiring managers and cross-functional stakeholders to assess role fit, experience, and alignment with Workstreet’s operating principles.
  • Candidates will receive prompt updates and consistent communication throughout the interview process, ensuring a transparent, smooth, and engaging experience at every step.
