
Brief Summary of role:
The Human Resources Officer provides high-level operational and administrative support to the HR/Corporate
Services Manager and plays a key role in delivering effective HR services across the organisation. This position is
responsible for implementing HR policies, managing day-to-day HR functions, and supporting workforce initiatives
to ensure compliance, efficiency, and a positive organisational culture.
The HR Officer will work closely with the HR/Corporate Services Manager and supervise junior trainees within the
HR team. The role requires strong administrative skills, the ability to organise workload, prioritise tasks, multi-task,
and meet deadlines. The successful applicant will demonstrate initiative, work efficiently with limited supervision,
and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
Key areas of responsibility include recruitment and onboarding, performance management support, grievance
handling, training coordination, compliance monitoring, and contributing to strategic HR projects as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrative Duties: Answer phones, redirect calls, schedule and confirm appointments, manage visitor
sign-in/out, filing and archiving, Record and distribute minutes for HR-related meetings, running Reports,
Statistics, and Data Analysis and maintain a clean and sanitised office. - General HR Queries and Support: Maintain accurate HR records, respond to staff inquiries and provide
guidance, HR Email Filter and Register Maintenance, take accurate meeting minutes. - Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage end-to-end recruitment, update position descriptions, create and
publish job ads, schedule interviews, conduct reference checks, onboard employees via Employment Hero,
and facilitate inductions. - Employee Separation: Coordinate exit processes, conduct exit interviews, and ensure compliance with
separation procedures. - Certifications and Compliance: Ensure staff certifications are current and maintain, assisting staff as required
and maintain a high standard of conformance to audit and accreditations - Training and Development: Organise and schedule training sessions, maintain training records, and support
professional development initiatives. - Performance Management: Assist managers with probation reviews, appraisals, and improvement plans. - Grievances and Complaints: Support managers in addressing staff grievances promptly and effectively at the
local level to prevent unnecessary escalation. When grievances are escalated to HR, take ownership of the
process by ensuring compliance with organisational policy, facilitating fair resolution, maintain accurate
documentation and maintaining confidentiality throughout. - Employee Relations & Legislative Compliance: Ensure adherence to Fair Work Act, NES, Awards, and
Enterprise Agreement. - Policy & Procedures: Assist in updating and communicating HR policies and procedures. - HR Software and Systems: Maintain Employment Hero and HRIS systems, provide basic IT support to staff
and managers. - Workers Compensation: Support claims management and compliance. - Employee Wellbeing & Workplace Culture: Promote positive culture and wellbeing initiatives. - Workforce Planning: Contribute to workforce data analysis and planning. - Payroll Support & Enterprise Agreement Interpretation: Provide backup assistance for payroll processing,
queries, and interpretation of payroll related clauses within Kalano’s Enterprise Agreement.
Remuneration package:
Employment Type: Full Time - Part Time (20 hours p/w)
Salary Range: $73,000 - $95,000 per annum (pro-rata)
Entitlements/Benefits: 6 Weeks Annual Leave + 2 Weeks Sick Leave + 2 Weeks Ancillary Leave + 1 RDO per Month. Location: This position is based at the Kalano Main Office - Lot 508 McKeddie Road, Myalli Brumby Community, Katherine NT 0850, Australia. Hours of work:
37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday | 08:00am - 4:30pm. with a 1hour unpaid lunch break.
