Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting the daily functions of the Human Resources department, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, leave administration, benefits support, payroll support, compliance, training, policy enforcement, and HR program administration.
This position partners with site leadership, employees, and HR leadership to support business needs while ensuring HR practices are administered consistently, professionally, and in compliance with company policy and applicable employment laws. The Human Resources Generalist serves as a resource to employees and leadership by supporting HR processes, responding to employment-related inquiries, assisting with investigations and corrective actions, maintaining HR documentation, and promoting a positive and compliant workplace environment
Requirements
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Support the daily functions of the Human Resources department, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, leave administration, benefits support, payroll support, compliance, and HR program administration.
- Recruit, screen, interview, and support the hiring process for qualified job applicants for open positions.
- Partner with department managers and leadership to understand staffing needs, required skills, and position requirements.
- Conduct or support background checks, employment eligibility verifications, onboarding requirements, and new hire documentation.
- Facilitate or support new hire orientation, onboarding activities, employee recognition programs, and other employee engagement initiatives.
- Support administration of employee benefits, leave of absence, FMLA, pregnancy leave, COBRA, 401(k), medical, dental, and other HR-related programs as assigned.
- Assist with payroll-related processes, including reviewing employee data, supporting timesheet accuracy, and helping ensure employee pay information is accurate and timely.
- Review, track, and document compliance with required and non-required employee training, including safety training, anti-harassment training, benefits orientation, and other company-required training.
- Respond to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex or sensitive matters to HR leadership as appropriate.
- Participate in or support employee relations matters, including coaching, corrective actions, disciplinary meetings, investigations, terminations, and other HR-related follow-up.
- Prepare, maintain, and review HR documentation, logs, spreadsheets, reports, and employee records to support HR programs and compliance.
- Support performance management, talent management, employee development, productivity, recognition, morale, training, and related HR processes.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, company policies, and HR best practices.
- Review and apply company policies and practices consistently, escalating questions or concerns to HR leadership when needed.
- Maintain knowledge of HR trends, employment law updates, regulatory changes, best practices, and HR technology.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling employee, payroll, benefits, medical, disciplinary, investigation, or other sensitive information.
- Partner with Operations, Safety, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, and other internal teams to support business needs.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with employees, leadership, applicants, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
- Support HR projects, audits, reporting, process improvements, employee communications, and other department priorities as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications Mandatory:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent related experience.
- Previous experience supporting Human Resources functions, employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, leave administration, payroll support, compliance, or related HR programs.
- Working knowledge of current HR practices, employment laws, HR compliance requirements, and employee relations processes.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, applicants, leadership, and cross-functional partners.
- Ability to write clear, professional correspondence, reports, documentation, and process-related communication.
- Ability to analyze and resolve practical HR-related concerns and escalate complex matters appropriately.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, follow-ups, and HR processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and related systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, travel, or schedule changes when required by business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual – English/Spanish.
- 2-5 years of Human Resources experience.
- Experience working in a warehouse, fulfillment, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or multi-site environment.
- Experience using HRIS, payroll, applicant tracking, onboarding, benefits, or timekeeping systems.
- Experience supporting investigations, corrective actions, leave administration, performance management, and compliance documentation.
- HR certification or coursework related to Human Resources, employee relations, compliance, or employment law.
