Job Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for human resources activities at Springbrook, particularly related to specific business units as assigned. Functional areas may include but are not limited to recruitment, employee relations, compliance, unemployment, and benefits.
Help to facilitate communication for specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries between assigned business units and Human Resources Department. Provide advice, assistance and follow-up on policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as primary point of contact and communication for human resource activities relating to specific business units as assigned including employment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance and training and development coordination.
• Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention. Support program in multiple locations.
• Conduct internal investigations of employee complaints.
• Advise on workplace issues and disciplinary actions including terminations and warnings.
• Assist with recruitment efforts (recruiting, screening, interviewing, posting jobs w/ multiple sources, pre-employment testing; recruiting events, etc.)
• Responsible for HR process and procedure compliance with industry regulations including but not limited to OPWDD, SED and OCFS.
• Receive criminal background check (CBC) results and new arrest notifications and follow appropriate process to ensure compliance.
• Identify and communicate employee and organizational issues and needs. Relay information and work with other Human Resources Department staff to help facilitate resolution and provide follow-up communication as needed.
• Assist in development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures, including education of and communication to leadership and staff.
• Work with managers to determine department staffing needs including open positions, changes in employment.
• Solicit feedback and conduct exit interviews of staff terminating through voluntary position resignation. Analyze feedback and data for opportunities for organizational improvement.
• Develop and recommend operating policy and procedural improvements.
• Help to ensure appropriate handling of workplace issues.
• Identify, develop and facilitate delivery of HR related training for managers and employees on various topics of importance to Springbrook.
• Help collect relevant documentation for unemployment claims and assist in coordination and preparation of witnesses to attend hearings.
• Participate in special projects/initiatives as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related discipline required and three (3) to five (5) years of relevant Human Resources experience strongly preferred
• Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of Federal/State employment law and compliance issues, including EEO/Affirmative Action, FMLA, and ADA.
• Auditing/compliance experience a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
• Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.
