Examples of duties

This position supports employee relations at the Southwestern Veterans' Center by coordinating labor activities, reviewing workplace issues, and guiding supervisors through HR procedures. The role focuses on providing equitable employee relations guidance, ensuring sound and consistent policy administration, and maintaining productive relationships with staff and union representatives. As a Human Resources Analyst 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Timekeeping Oversight: Supervise timekeeping staff, review procedures, and ensure accurate leave adjustments
  • Discipline Coordination: Review incidents, guide supervisors, conduct investigations, and assist with pre-disciplinary conference processes
  • Grievance Management: Research issues, prepare responses, and support consistent resolution based on policy and contract language
  • Labor Relations Support: Facilitate labor-management meetings, coordinate presentations, and maintain communication with union representatives
  • Performance Guidance: Assist supervisors with employee performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and improvement strategies
  • Policy Interpretation: Explain contract language, respond to inquiries, and support consistent policy application

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Human Resource Analyst 1 or Equal Opportunity Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of analytical experience that includes one year of professional human resource or equal opportunity experience, and a bachelor’s degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
