Office of Employee and Business Services

The Office of Employee and Business Services (OEBS) provides customer service and operational support to ODJFS through five bureaus: Business Services, Civil Rights and Labor Relations, Human Resources, Multimedia Services, and Training and Educational Services. OEBS customers include all ODJFS employees, clients, service providers, county agencies, and the public. Learn more about the office by visiting the ODJFS OEBS webpage

What You Will Do

  • Review and complete bi-weekly payroll for ODJFS employees and ensure state benefits are provided.

  • Review bi-weekly timesheets, leave request, adjustments, leave accruals in KRONOS.

  • Complete payroll updates in the state-wide payroll system, OAKS.

  • Update municipal taxes, direct deposit changes, review paychecks, calculate leave accruals, running bi-weekly payroll reports and process disability, salary continuation, and adoption/childbirth leave payments.

  • Process leave management cases including disability, FMLA, and extended absences.

  • Process applications, reviewing eligibility, providing approval notifications, tracking absences, and opening leave cases in KRONOS.

  • Complete employment verifications, OPERS requests, termination EPARS, and confirm pay period step increases.

  • Collaborate with staff and other ODJFS offices to ensure accurate payroll.

Schedule: Full time.

Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Location: Positions are headquartered at the James A. Rhodes State Officer Tower - 30 E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215.

Travel: Occasional travel within the state of Ohio.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:

Option 1

  • 3 yrs. exp. in human resources.

Option 2:

  • 1 yr. exp. as Human Capital Management Analyst, 64612 with the State of Ohio.

Option 3:

  • Completion of undergraduate core program in human resources, business or public administration;
  • AND 12 mos. exp. in human resources

Option 4:

  • Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohio’s E1 Exempt Pay Schedule, Pay Range 12. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $33.32 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
