Job Description

Who We Are

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is a leading global financial services firm providing investment banking, securities and investment management services to a substantial and diversified client base. Our Human Capital Management (HCM) division recruits, develops and rewards the people of Goldman Sachs, advising and implementing the strategies, processes and technologies that help our people advance professionally and drive productivity.

People Analytics sits within Reward & People Analytics and provides firmwide and regional management with workforce data, reporting and analysis across Headcount, Payroll, Attrition, Compensation and Talent. The team partners closely with Firmwide, Divisional and Regional leadership, Controllers, the Executive Office and regulators to turn complex HCM data into decisions.

The Role

This Associate role is central to driving data-informed talent decisions across the organization. You will own the end-to-end delivery of People Analytics outputs - combining strong analytical craft with storytelling to translate HCM data into actionable insight for senior stakeholders, including Regional HCM Heads, Divisional Heads, Chiefs of Staff and the Executive Office.

In line with the team’s operating model, we are looking for someone who does more than produce reports - an owner who can frame the “why” behind a request, form and defend a point of view, and use AI as leverage while retaining ownership of judgement and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics & Reporting Delivery

  • Own outputs end-to-end: Deliver assigned People Analytics outputs - including EMEA compensation disclosures, year-end compensation reporting, headcount, attrition and payroll roll-forwards, and recurring stakeholder reporting - with a high standard of data accuracy and on agreed timelines.

  • Deep-dive analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of HCM data across talent processes (performance ratings, promotions, talent reviews, compensation) to identify trends, patterns and opportunities.

  • Dashboards & tools: Contribute to the development, maintenance and validation of reporting dashboards and packs, including Power BI reporting and Business Objects / Anaplan outputs.

  • Headcount & planning support: Coordinate headcount data and projections for capacity planning, location strategy and budgeting, partnering with the Executive Office and Real Estate teams.

Stakeholder Engagement & Storytelling

  • Partner with senior leadership: Work directly with Regional HCM Heads, Divisional Heads, Chiefs of Staff and the Executive Office to understand business needs and deliver data-driven solutions.

  • Insight, not just data: Develop compelling narratives and visualizations that translate complex data into clear implications and recommendations for senior audiences.

  • Regulatory & disclosure support: Support strategic and regulatory workstreams such as EU Pay Transparency readiness, UK Gender Pay Gap and other regional compliance reporting.

Process Improvement & Ownership

  • Automate and simplify: Identify and implement process improvements across recurring workflows (e.g., year-end comp, disclosure reporting), using tools such as Alteryx to standardize and automate validation and controls.

  • Quality & controls: Apply structured quality-assurance and reconciliation practices to ensure accuracy and minimize restatements across published outputs.

  • AI as leverage: Adopt approved AI use cases (e.g., drafting narratives, scenario modelling) to increase speed and scale, while owning the thinking and the outcome.

  • Subject-matter expertise: Build and share knowledge to become a go-to resource for at least one critical process area.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Up to 7 years of relevant post-qualification experience in analytics, reporting, management consulting, management & strategy, finance or HR analytics; MBA strongly preferred (top-tier consulting background a plus).

  • Strong analytical mindset with a proven ability to work with large datasets and translate data into a clear, insightful and compelling story.

  • Advanced Excel skills - comfort with complex formulas, pivot tables and macros.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including experience preparing materials for senior stakeholders.

  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Preferred / Advantageous

  • Experience with BI and data tools - Power BI / Tableau, Alteryx, Business Objects, Anaplan; scripting (Python, R, VBA) a plus.

  • Familiarity with HR / HRIS data landscape and processes.

  • Exposure to compensation and reward analytics, executive compensation or regulatory disclosures.

  • Proven track record of taking initiative, driving automation and delivering a major deliverable independently.

What Success Looks Like

  • Ownership: Reliably delivers accurate, decision-ready outputs with minimal rework.

  • Judgement: Anticipates leadership needs, frames trade-offs and forms a clear point of view.

  • Impact: Drives measurable efficiency gains through automation and standardization, and is recognized as a trusted partner by senior stakeholders.
