SUMMARY/SCOPE:The Department of Engineering at Hardin-Simmons University invites applications for an engineering project student worker. We seek a driven and collegial student worker committed to transferring classroom knowledge to hands-on work experience.
Preferred applicants should have completed the following engineering courses: ENGR 1301 Introduction to Engineering, ENGR 2301 Statics, and have taken or are currently enrolled in MENG Fluid Dynamics. Preferred applicants should be skilled with software tools such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Preferred applicants should be comfortable with design and basic fabrication skills.
The successful candidate will be expected to work 10 hours per week. Student worker(s) are expected to adhere to laboratory safety procedures when necessary and demonstrate both cooperation and collaboration with colleagues to support the missions of the Engineering Department and Hardin-Simmons University.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assess the needs of a client and determine the scope of work
Develop and redesign a water filtration system
Implement and test the design for successful integration for the client. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: STEM major with preference given to students pursuing engineering.
Willingness and eagerness to learn and take initiative.
Completed the following courses: Introduction to Engineering, Statics, Calculus 1, Physics 1, and have completed or are currently enrolled in Fluid Dynamics. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Successful candidate must be able to move heavy items (up to 50 lbs.), work with their hands, and be on their feet. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Laboratory space
