The role sits within a team of three engineers responsible for maintaining building engineering systems and specialist decontamination equipment within the HSSU.
Main duties
Maintain and fault‑find on washer disinfectors, sterilisers, endoscope washers, ultrasonic units and associated site building services in line with statutory requirements and organisational standards.
Carry out scheduled weekly, quarterly and annual testing, ensuring all planned maintenance tasks are completed on time and recorded appropriately.
Work closely with the Engineering Team Leader and fellow Site Engineer to keep the testing schedule on track and ensure consistent high standards.
Liaise with operational staff to keep them informed of planned works and minimise service disruption.
Participate in the 1‑in‑2 on‑call rota. On‑call is paid at 10% of hourly rate, with call‑outs paid at time and a half.
Order parts, receive deliveries and check these against purchase documentation, resolving discrepancies as they arise.
Prepare and submit maintenance and testing reports as required
Attend local Quality and Health & Safety meetings to support continuous improvement.
Requirements
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 / ONC or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or suitable previous experience.
A background in plumbing, electrical, mechanical or building services engineering would be highly relevant to this role.
Experience working with decontamination equipment is preferred but not essential. The successful applicant will receive on‑site training and mentoring from the existing engineering team, alongside company‑funded courses to develop the required competencies and achieve compliance with HTM testing requirements for washer disinfectors, sterilisers and endoscopy equipment.
Full UK driving licence.
Good communication skills with the ability to work well across teams.
Basic IT skills including email and Microsoft Office.
Able to prioritise workload, make sound decisions and remain calm under pressure.
