About the Role:

Join our team as the SHEQ Sustainability Advisor reporting to our SHEQ Business Partner. You’ll work closely with teams on your designated area. You will embed sustainability and environmental practices into everyday operations through practical advice, education, and clear communication. You’ll also will support compliance and drive practical safety initiatives that make a real difference day to day.

We are an ISO accredited business, using your communication and legislative knowledge you will aim to continually improve system and operational processes aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 9001, & ISO 14001 certification. The role is open to candidates based in Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne or Perth and Travel is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working in collaboration with SHEQ team and ensuring SHEQ objectives and priorities are developed for planned implementation and deployed operationally
  • Effectively contribute to SHEQ team through constructive input to team meetings and problem solving
  • Contribute to and develop appropriate SHEQ initiatives as required
  • Embed sustainability and environmental practices into day-to-day business operations through technical advice, education and communication
  • Support the integration of environmental requirements into business processes, systems, procedures and tools
  • Improve usage and emissions data collection and assist in identifying sustainability improvement initiatives
  • Develop, implement and maintain controls for key environmental risks including water, vegetation, noise and waste management
  • Monitor environmental performance, conduct trend analysis, identify non-conformances and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support HSS assurance activities including site inspections, field assessments and audits
  • Manage compliance with Development Consents, planning obligations, environmental management plans and permits
  • Liaise with regulators and government agencies on environmental compliance matters
  • Coordinate environmental reporting, including incidents, non-compliances and sustainability performance outcomes
  • Raise awareness on SHEQ and sustainability issues through toolbox talks and briefings, delivering training where necessary
  • Plan, develop and deliver training to employees as required to recognised/ acceptable standards.

Key Competencies:

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification or diploma in Sustainability, Environmental Management or a related discipline · More than 3 years’ experience in an environmental or sustainability role
  • Previous experience with sustainability and emissions reporting
  • Experience conducing field inspections, system audits and environmental incident investigations
  • Working knowledge of SHEQ Legislation
  • Current C-class Driver’s licence Desirable: · Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Understanding of ESG reporting requirements
  • Ability to influence managers and supervisors on sustainability initiatives
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
