Job Description

The HSE Trainer reports directly to the HSE Supervisor and is responsible for ensuring company employees are educated on proper safety procedures and protocols The incumbent works closely with management and field supervisors to promote commitment to building a strong safety culture. Primary duties of the HSE Trainer include training personnel, maintaining training compliance, conducting safety meetings, and maintaining learning management systems. Must have ability to travel for short term assignments. Schedule: Monday – Friday

   Essential Job Functions:    Worksite Support:
  • Inspects jobsites for potentially hazardous conditions, safe work practices, behaviors, health, and environmental concerns and performs safety audits.
  • Provides guidance and support to project management team and crew members for maintaining a safe and positive working environment.
  • Identify gaps in training and provide real-time coaching and corrective guidance.
  • Investigates incidents thoroughly, including root cause analysis and recommends course of action to prevent future hazards.
  • Conducts site assessments, records data, follows up on actions needed and provides feedback.
  • Provides guidance to field supervisors in reporting incidents and gathering information.
  • Communicates and supports project personnel on safety processes and any changes to policies that may affect project operations.
  • Facilitates onsite hazard analyses/assessments of project scopes of work, implements and updates JHA documents for projects.
  • Supports field supervisors and craft in daily toolbox meetings.
  • Creates and presents weekly safety meetings at work sites.
  • Ability to travel for short term assignments.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.
Training:
  • Conducts Delta onboarding orientation to include Delta HSE courses and Client specific courses.
  • Works with the HSE team and management to create and/or update safety training programs.
  • Develop and update training materials (Power Points, written training procedures).
  • Coordinate and assign required training using various electronic systems.
  • Monitor, schedule, and conduct annual training for incumbent employees.
  • Coordinate the Delta Short Service Employee program including communication with supervisors to track employee completion and record retention.
  • Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department.
Administrative:
  • Collects, organizes, and enters Delta SAFE Cards, Audits, and other predictive indicators into the Delta HSE Enterprise System.
  • Collects, organizes, and enters Delta training records into various electronic repositories.
  • Reviews, addresses, proposes and/or resolves health and safety concerns (i.e., corrective actions, communicating new policies, providing trend analyses, etc.).
  • Maintains Safety and Incident Logs to ensure completion and closeout of action items.
  • Maintains, orders, and stocks necessary PPE inventories for various sites.
  • Maintains, orders, and distributes FRC packages to new hire employees.
Required Minimum Qualifications:  
  • Valid Driver License and clean driving record
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two years’ safety experience
Education, & Training:  
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Associate’s degree in safety related field preferred
  • (Combination of 5 years HSE training and craft experience or professional certification (CHST / OHST) may be considered in lieu of Education)

  • Working knowledge of craft disciplines and oil & gas industry terms and processes

  • Ability to always act in a professional manner 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proficient in the use of Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other office related programs.
