Job Description

We are seeking an outgoing and driven HSE Specialist to support our operations by proactively identifying and addressing safety risks before incidents occur. This position plays a key role in protecting the health and safety of our field personnel and the preservation of company assets and equipment. The ideal candidate brings energy, attention to detail, and the ability to engage with both field and leadership teams to promote a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Field Safety Leadership

  • Collaborate with foremen and field teams to enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Stop operations that present an immediate danger to employees or equipment.
  • Support injury prevention efforts through coaching, training, and daily engagement with field staff.

Compliance & Inspections

  • Execute monthly compliance inspections on rigging, fall protection systems, ladders, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and AEDs.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits including Job Safety Analyses (JSA), rigging evaluations, and equipment checks.
  • Perform and document emergency response drills.

Incident Response & Reporting

  • Complete internal incident and injury reports in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Coordinate post-injury care, including arranging medical evaluation when required.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to minimize workplace injuries and health risks.

Engagement and Culture Building

  • Drive the safety observation and employee recognition program to increase positive engagement.
  • Serve as a field liaison for safety communication and support.

Other Duties

  • Perform other related safety responsibilities and special projects assigned by leadership.

Requirements

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of field experience in the wind industry.
  • At least 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in occupational health and safety within an industrial environment preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and internal safety policies.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and other relevant safety and regulatory standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and safety-related software tools.
  • Ability to lead by example and coach field personnel in real-time.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

This role requires regular time in the field and physical capability to conduct safety inspections in varied work environments.

  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind, and rain.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and climbing (including ladders).
  • Ability to enter confined or tight spaces for inspections.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to job sites as required.
