Job Description

The HSE Specialist plays a critical role in promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility within our organization. The HSE specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Additionally, they will provide guidance and support to management and employees on matters related to health, safety, and environmental management.

What you will do

• HSE Systems, Compliance & Risk Management
• Develop, implement, and maintain Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures, and management systems in line with legal requirements, standards, and company objectives.
• Monitor regulatory and industry developments to ensure ongoing compliance and effective integration into organizational practices.
• Conduct HSE audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Operational Support, Training & Safety Culture
• Provide expert HSE advice and guidance to management, employees, and contractors, including regulatory interpretation and safe work practices.
• Plan, coordinate, and deliver HSE training, inductions, and awareness programs to strengthen competency and promote a positive safety culture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed HSE requirements into operational activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Incident Management, Performance & Emergency Response
• Lead or support investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-misses, ensuring root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and documentation, including incident statistics, inspection results, and training records.
• Monitor, analyze, and report HSE performance metrics and trends, recommending improvement actions to enhance overall performance.
• Support emergency preparedness, response planning, and on-site response during incidents or emergencies.
• Work Clothing & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Specify, manage, and monitor appropriate work clothing and PPE in line with risk assessments and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure correct use, maintenance, and timely replacement of work clothing and PPE.
• Train employees on proper PPE usage, care, and compliance with organizational standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with PPE and work clothing policies.

What we require

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in HSE roles, preferably in similar industry
• Experience in developing and implementing HSE policies, procedures, and programs
• Proven track record in incident investigation, risk assessment, audits, and inspections
• Experience in environmental compliance, waste management, and sustainability initiatives
• Experience in PPE/work clothing management and safety training programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
• Advanced degree or specialized HSE courses are a plus (e.g., Masters in Safety Management, Environmental Management).
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor / Lead Implementer (or familiarity with OHS management systems)
• ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, standards, and regulations (local and international)
• Familiarity with HSE software, audit tools, and reporting systems
• Ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysis
• Competence in data analysis and reporting HSE metrics (e.g., TRIR, LTIFR, environmental KPIs)
• Knowledge of emergency response planning and preparedness
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to advise staff, management, and contractors
• Results-oriented, proactive, and detail-conscious
