HSE / Offshore Medic (10-Month Fixed-Term Decommissioning Contract)

Location: North Sea

Rotation: 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off

Salary: Up to £72,000 per annum

About the Role

MCL Medics is seeking an experienced HSE / Offshore Medic to support a North Sea asset currently in its decommissioning phase and experience in the environment is preferable.

Key Duties

Clinical Care

  • Provide 24-hour on-site medical care to all installation personnel.

  • Diagnose and initiate treatment of illness on-site per MCL Medics Medical Standard Operating Procedures, including initiation of prescription medications in consultation with the Topside Doctor.

  • Provide initial emergency response, resuscitation, and stabilisation of critically ill or injured patients, utilising ALS/ATLS emergency medical protocols.

  • Liaise with the Topside Doctor to manage medevac cases; provide referral documentation and coordinate safe transfer onshore with logistics personnel.

  • Maintain accurate patient medical records and incident reporting in accordance with MCL Medics MSOPs, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Access to Medical Records Act 1990.

  • Order, maintain, and control adequate stocks of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals in the sickbay per the company drug formulary.

  • Dispose of clinical waste in line with clinical waste protocols.

Emergency Response & Training

  • Actively participate in the asset's emergency response plan for major medical incidents.

  • Conduct and participate in medical exercises; deliver refresher training to first-aid teams and stretcher parties.

  • Conduct non-certificated first aid training with First Aiders and casualty handling with Stretcher Teams using MCL Medics training templates.

  • Operate all medical emergency equipment listed in MERP and MSOPs; conduct and record weekly functional checks.

  • Maintain all first aid and eye wash stations throughout the installation and keep accurate records.

  • Contribute to site Toolbox Talks and safety behavioural initiatives.

Occupational Health

  • Act as the focal point for all health, occupational health, and occupational hygiene matters.

  • Organise and participate in health surveillance programmes for at-risk employees in line with client occupational health policies.

  • Adhere to and promote the client's health promotion goals, including the Healthy Working Lives award programme.

  • Monitor progress and implementation of occupational health corrective actions arising from site incidents.

HSE & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with current Health, Safety and Environmental practices and client procedures

  • Carry out duties as COSHH and Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) Focal Point.

  • Assist with the development and delivery of the annual HSEQ plan.

  • Participate in the installation's internal audit programme and Permit to Work audits per platform schedule.

  • Participate and support management in the investigation, reporting, and analysis of incidents.

  • Complete periodic potable water testing and routine water samples for chemical and microbiological analyses.

  • Conduct regular hygiene inspections of the galley and accommodation using the client hygiene template; review catering company food safety management systems.

Minimum Qualifications & Certifications

  • Professional Registration (one of the following required):

  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post-graduation experience

  • HCPC Registered Paramedic

  • Combat Medical Technician Class 1 (CMT1)

  • Royal Navy / Royal Air Force / Royal Fleet Auxiliary Medical Technician or Assistant

  • Required Certifications:

  • HSE- approved Offshore Medic certificate

  • OEUK Medical Certificate

  • BOSIET/FOET (with EBS)

  • MIST (Minimum Industry Safety Training)

  • Radiation Protection Supervisor

  • COSHH Assessor

  • Manual Handling Assessor

  • Asbestos – Duty to Manage

  • Noise Surveying / Management

  • Potable Water Management

  • Hand Arm Vibration Awareness

  • Incident Investigation

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
