Job Description

Empower, Connect, Evolve, and Inspire - these are the values that drive us and make BMI a company where you can thrive and grow.

HSE Manager Finland

We are looking for an HSE Manager to oversee and drive our Health, Safety, and Environment operations across Finland!

Serving as the primary contact for all HS&E matters in Finland, you will take full operational responsibility for our manufacturing plant, warehouse facilities, and installation business. Working alongside HR, you will also lead and develop commercial safety initiatives throughout the region.

This position is based out of our Espoo plant and reports directly to the Nordic HSE Manager in Sweden.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance & Management Systems: Partner with plant, warehousing, and installation managers to maintain full HSE regulatory compliance. Monitor external and internal requirements (including government agencies, local authorities, insurance providers, and Group standards), help develop compliance programs for air, water, waste, hazardous materials, and workplace safety, and maintain the HSE Management System in line with ISO 14001 standards.
  • Risk Assessment & Auditing: Conduct regular site inspections and audits across facilities and installation worksites. Organize job hazard evaluations to identify health and safety risks, and design and execute target improvement plans.
  • Incident Response & Emergency Preparedness: Lead emergency planning and response initiatives. Conduct incident investigations with root-cause analysis to implement robust corrective actions, notify functional leaders of critical events, and serve as the liaison for local authority inspections and investigations.
  • Strategy & Continuous Improvement: Formulate, execute, and track an annual HSE action plan. Foster a culture of continuous safety improvement by engaging employees across all operational levels and tracking performance KPIs for internal evaluation and Group reporting.
  • Training & Collaboration: Deliver engaging HSE training programs to staff. Actively contribute to the wider HSE network through monthly meetings, cross-site benchmarking, and functional knowledge sharing.

What You Bring to the Role:

To thrive in this position, you offer proven operational HSE experience in a comparable capacity, backed by deep knowledge of safety and environmental regulations—ideally within manufacturing or construction.

You combine analytical thinking and effective problem-solving with a proactive, hands-on mindset, exceptional organizational skills, and the capacity to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.

Seamlessly building trust through genuine collaboration, you adapt with resilience as we navigate ongoing organizational transformation. Experience in training others is a distinct advantage.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

  • Fluency in Finnish alongside professional proficiency in English.
  • Experience of implementing ISO 14001 and 45001 is preferred.
  • Experience within an international, multi-site business environment.
  • Strong competence with productivity suites and IT systems, such as Google Workspace or MS Office.

We also believe that you should embrace our core Values:

  • EMPOWER each other and our teams
  • Help us EVOLVE how we improve and win daily
  • CONNECT us together and the world we serve
  • INSPIRE each of us to do our best to get better every day
