About the role

The EHS Manager is responsible for leading and managing all Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives within the manufacturing site. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, drives a culture of safety, and supports operational excellence through proactive risk management and continuous improvement. This role reports to the Plant Manager and is based in Tema.

Key Responsibilities

1. Regulatory Compliance & Site Standards

  • Ensure full compliance with local, national, and international EHS regulations
  • Maintain and update permits, licenses, and documentation relevant to manufacturing operations
  • Lead site audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting

2. Safety Leadership & Risk Management

  • Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses across production lines and support areas
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Monitor and report safety performance metrics (TRIR, LTIR, etc.)

3. Environmental Management

  • Oversee waste management, emissions control, and resource conservation efforts
  • Support sustainability initiatives and environmental impact reduction programs
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials

4. Training & Engagement

  • Develop and deliver EHS training for employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through campaigns, toolbox talks, and employee involvement
  • Support behavioral safety programs and continuous learning

5. Operational Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to integrate EHS into daily operations
  • Drive improvements in ergonomics, machine safety, and process safety management
  • Lead EHS projects aligned with site goals and manufacturing excellence

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field with minimum of 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and local regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with conducting risk assessments, incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action planningand audit management
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to influence and engage cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency in EHS management systems and reporting tools
  • Commitment to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement
